After recently launching the Monster 1200, Ducati is all-set to further expand its iconic streetbike portfolio by introducing the Monster 800. UK based website BikeSocial has caught the bike undergoing testing and from the looks of it the launch doesn’t seem too far as it looks production ready. It is expected that the Italian two-wheeler manufacturer will launch the new Monster 800 at the 2014 Ducati World Week at Misano in July. Also Read: Ducati Monster 1200 preview

Visually the bike is similar to its elder sibling, the Monster 1200, the major difference being that it employs an all-new double-sided swing arm and a restyled tail tidy. The similarities doesn’t end on the cosmetic front, as from the image, one can make out that it uses identical frame and chassis. The engine is a fully-stressed member of the chassis and is mounted - in Panigale-style - on the iconic tubular steel trellis frame. Talking about the powerplant, the Monster 800 will be powered by a Hypermotard sourced 821cc, liquid-cooled motor producing close to 110PS of power and it will be mated to a six-speed transmission.

It is expected that the Monster 800 will be equipped with electronic goodies like Ducati Traction Control system, customisable riding modes and ABS. In terms of pricing, the Ducati Monster 800 will be priced between the Monster 796 and 1200. In the international market Ducati is all-set to make a comeback to our two-wheeler market and the Monster 800 will definitely feature in its Indian portfolio. Like all offerings from the stables of the Italian bikemaker expect it to command a premium price tag of close to Rs 15 lakh.
