The Honda Jazz facelift has been shown in the build up to the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. Apart from the usual cosmetic changes and additional equipment, the new model now gets a new 'Jazzier' trim.

The highlight of the 2018 Honda Jazz Dynamic is the new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder i-VTEC motor developing 130PS of maximum power. This motor can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT (why? because Honda). This may not be explosively different from the standard variants sold in Europe, which are powered by a 1.3-litre motor developing 102PS of maximum power, but there is a chance this will make the Jazz more fun to drive.

No other mechanical changes have been made to the Jazz, at least according to the information in the press release; this means the Jazz Dynamic is, at best, a faster car to be in while driving straight. The Jazz has been designed with practicality (354-897-litres of luggage space with the versatility of 'Magic Seats'), fuel efficiency (18.51kmpl claimed), comfort and safety in mind than anything else. The Dynamic adds that bit of oomph which was missing from the 1.3-litre motor.

The Jazz Dynamic has been designed to look like a fast hatchback. The headlights are now slimmer, with all-LED illumination including integrated LED DRLs. The front bumper looks muscular with aggressive looking faux air intakes and a splitter with a red accent line. Gloss black ORVMS covers, 16-inch gloss-black alloy wheels and side skirts continue the sporty look at the side. A new spoiler and an aggressive bumper with a prominent diffuser (again, with a red accent) complete the sportier look.

Inside too, the Jazz Dynamic gets orange contrast stitching on the seats, leather-wrapped steering and gear knob for that sportier look.

The Jazz Dynamic looks interesting; with mild-hot hatchbacks getting some love in our market - especially the Polo GT TSI and Baleno RS - this new variant could make sense in India too. The Dynamic's engine could certainly make the Jazz feel worthy of its name because the 90PS/110Nm 1.2-litre motor certainly doesn't feel that Jazzy. Honda is unlikely to bring the Jazz Dynamic in India, but we can look forward to many of the cosmetic updates from the European car to make their way here.
