Honda has unveiled the BR-V compact SUV at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo for the first time. The new compact SUV is one of the most awaited cars of 2016 and also one of the most important cars of this year’s auto expo. The new Honda BR-V will be priced at Rs 9-13 lakh and will go up against the Hyundai Creta, the Renault Duster and the Nissan Terrano along with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The new Honda BR-V will be launched in May 2016.
On the exterior front, the Honda BR-V will bring with it an updated design language to the Honda range. Up front it will get a large horizontally slatted chrome grille flanked by sleek looking headlamps on either side. From the front, the BRV will essentially look like a beefier and more muscular version of the Honda City. On the side, it gets a sharp crease along with several styling hints from the Mobilio. We also like the rear design which is quite uncluttered.
On the inside, the BR-V gets an all new dashboard that will also be featured on the new Mobilio and Brio facelift. It also gets an updated centre console with a silver surround and gloss black inserts along with a touchscreen infotainment system that will get navigation. The new Honda BR-V will also get seven seats which will be a first in segment feature. The BR-V is quite spacious when it comes to the centre seating space along with space on the third row enough for two adults.
In terms of engines, the Honda BR-V will come with a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol as well as a 1.5-litre diesel mill. The diesel will come mated to a 6-speed transmission while the petrol unit will get a 5-speed tranny as well as a CVT engine and a paddle shift option. The diesel engine will get just under 120PS of peak power while the diesel engine will get 100PS of peak power. Expect the Honda BR-V to be an extremely popular SUV with Indian customers when it actually goes on sale mid 2016 at a price point of between Rs 9-13 lakh.
