Mercedes-Benz has launched the highly anticipated 2015 C-Class in India at Rs 40.9 lakh, (ex-showroom Delhi). The new C-Class will take on the BMW 3-series and Audi A4 in the premium entry level luxury sedan segment. Considering the A3 and the upcoming CLA will be the new entry level sedans, this segment gets elevated a notch. And going by what the new C-Class looks like, it sure steps up on the premium luxury quotient.
The C-Class only comes in petrol form to begin with. The car is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol unit pumping out 183.5PS of power and 300Nm of torque. It gets a 7-speed 7GTronic Plus gearbox with paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. The petrol motor is no slouch as we found out in our review. It can do the 0-100kmph sprint in 7.3 seconds but the C-Class feels most in its elements as a relaxed cruiser. The soft suspension is well suited for Indian roads but low profile 225/50 R17 tyres do filter in the sharper bumps.

The C-Class comes kitted to the gills with features. It gets electric seat adjustment with memory for both the front seats, a TFT touch screen with 3D navigation and a 13 speaker Burmester surround sound system. Parking camera with park assist makes parking a breeze. On the safety front, you get seven airbags, ESP with curve dynamic assist, ABS, ARS (traction control) and brake assist. In addition to these features, the C-Class gets Hill Start Assist and a fuel saving Start/Stop function.
There’s little to speak of the design that you wouldn’t know by now. The C-Class is heavily inspired by the new S-Class in every aspect and that does place it a notch above its rivals purely on an aspirational level. If you haven’t read our C-Class review yet though, click here
