The Supra also featured in the second movie with a gold paint scheme before reverting back to its initial orange colour

Fans of the Fast & Furious franchise are in for a treat as the official announcement is out: the Toyota Supra driven by Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) will be auctioned in June 2021.

The movie franchise is currently gearing up for the launch of its ninth installment. The series will see more adrenaline-pumping action featuring some of the best cars. Head here to see our list of the top 10 cars to feature in that movie. For fans of the ongoing franchise, the news of this auction will lead to an emotional rollercoaster for multiple reasons.

First off, this was Brian’s ride in the movie that kicked off the franchise. This brings back bittersweet memories as it also reminds everyone of the tragic accident that cost Paul Walker his life. However, this Supra appeared in the second movie (2 Fast 2 Furious) as well, albeit under a different guise. Yes, the golden Supra that featured in that movie was this very car. After that appearance, it then reverted back to its original orange colour scheme, dubbed the Nuclear Gladiator, complete with all its movie apparatus like the decals, spoiler, skirts, and the works.

Second, the ’94 Supra is probably the most influential factor when it comes to the hype for import cars. Nevertheless, the model that starred in the movie had its own features to boast about. It had a stock turbocharger, and had an automatic gearbox straight out of the factory, that came with the 3.0-litre straight-six engine. In the movies, however, it seemed that the automatic was cleverly disguised with a short-throw shifter to appeal to the purists.

The entire auction process will be handled by Barrett-Jackson, with the event set to take place in mid-June in Las Vegas. The car has been placed under a no reserve price criteria, and it goes without saying that Brian’s orange Supra will surely attract massive bids, considering its history and celebrity status.

Besides, the event will see other vehicles joining the auction too, including a McLaren P1 once owned by Deadmau5, and Bill Goldberg’s WCC El Diablo Custom Chopper.
