Bosch Car Service: Your Trustworthy Next Door Car Service Partner

What happens when your car lives out its standard warranty lifeline? Do you continue to take it to an authorised service centre or do you link up with a local neighborhood mechanic? It can be a dilemma hard enough to drive anyone crazy. But every problem has a solution and this one comes in the form of a trusted service partner - Bosch Car Service.

So when it was time for the periodic service of my 2019 Maruti Vitara Brezza , I took it straight to a nearby Bosch Car Service centre and this is an account of my experience:

Getting familiar

Right from the moment I drove into the service centre, there was a mechanic to guide me. I was taken straight to the manager of the centre, who then assigned me a dedicated service manager for my car. This is where I was explained about the package and what all services are included in it.

Given that my car just needed periodic service, the package was rather straightforward, and the boys got to work right away after finishing the job card. Also straightforward is their online process of booking a service appointment.

First impressions

This is where one of the first standouts surfaced as I wasn’t asked to leave the service bay. Instead, I could actually watch the car being worked upon! For someone like me who has a deep bond with my car, this experience was like your favourite food being cooked right in front of you. 

This isn’t usually the case in regular service centres, as you’re asked to leave the vicinity and let the mechanics do their job. But my trust issues were put to ease here, and the first thing the mechanic did was to cover up the major interior touchpoints with plastics. That goes to show their care and attention to detail, because a standard local mechanic would never care about the hygiene in a similar manner. Plus points

I was further told that Bosch also provides a pick and drop service, in which the guys from Bosch Car Service will come to your house, pick up the car, do a thorough service or repair, and drop it back at your place – all without you having to leave the convenience of your home. And if you’re one like me with trust issues, especially when it comes to car service, Bosch has you covered there as well.

The mechanics take a photo/video of every step and procedure that is being done. Any parts that need replacement have to be approved by the owner, so there are no surprises later on. Nothing goes without your saying!

Getting serviced

Now over to the actual service. The Bosch mechanics began with getting the oil out the oil sump. Being a diesel unit, the condition of my engine oil wasn’t the ideal one. Understandably, I got the Bosch certified engine oil to replace the old one and of course, the oil filter was also replaced.  

The brakes were checked, the calipers greased, and the drum brakes got a thorough cleaning. The service manager did ask whether I wished for the disk brakes to be replaced, but given that they still had a lot of life left (even he agreed), those were put back after some cleaning.

The cabin filter and engine air filter were replaced with official Bosch filters after the car was brought back down. Greasing of door joints, topping up coolants and windscreen wiper fluid was a breeze and it was time for a diagnosis test. This includes a thorough digital scan of the entire car, right from the engine to the transmission to the exhaust, which is done to find some faults that may not be apparent. Thankfully, all was good with my Vitara Brezza, so it was time for the last step – some cleaning TLC.

Pay per service

While the Brezza was being shown some love, I went to get the bill estimate. My service manager broke down all the work that was done, and quoted the estimate for it. After my approval, the final tax invoice was printed, and the guys at Bosch Car Service were kind enough to waive off some of the labour charges. 

Considering all the depth and professionalism of the work done by Bosch certified technicians, the invoice wasn’t anywhere as hefty as expected. And you can’t really put a price on peace of mind, can you? Because at the end of the day, most of us go through the whole process of uncertainty, wherein you’re worried that – did you get scammed? Did you overpay? Was the service a quality one?

With Bosch Car Service, all that lingering uncertainty didn’t even surface for a second, courtesy of the transparency of all the work. I was kept in the loop and informed at each and every step.
