2026 Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift Launched At Rs 6.1 Lakh Onwards

Maruti Suzuki has given one of the country’s top sellers, the 2026 Baleno, a facelift, launching at an introductory festive price of Rs 6.1 lakh (ex-showroom). The Maruti Baleno is a popular car among a wide demographic of buyers in the country. From first-time car buyers to those who are looking for a second car in the garage. The Baleno is a feature-rich, efficient and good-looking car, and generally one can’t go wrong by buying one. 

Exterior

The Baleno has always been a good-looking car with tastefully executed design proportions and is generally well received. The fascia now gets a completely new grille with chrome finished slates on the grille making it look larger. However, the LED projector headlamps are carried over with the dotted LED DRL design.

The side profile is carried over to the facelift; the low roofline with the raked windshield and rear glass profile gives the Baleno a sporty look. For those looking for a premium touch, Maruti has retained the chrome finish on the lower window line.

The Baleno carries the typical hatchback profile, which in this case also includes character lines running across the length of the car that make it look more interesting.

The Baleno's rear end is distinctive, thanks to the raked rear glass, which gives it a coupe-like appearance. The tail-lamp design has retained its C-shaped tail lamps and the chrome accent bar running across the tailgate. Lower down, the bumper has a rather minimalist design and houses the four parking sensors and the reflectors on either side.

Interior

Maruti has not given any major updates to the 2026 Baleno’s interior. The layered design is carried over here as well. The blue and black interior theme in the Baleno facelift is carried over as is, which is no bad thing. What grabs the most attention is the touchscreen infotainment sitting proudly in the centre of the dashboard.

There is generous use of leatherette finish on most of the touchpoints, including the steering, doorpads and partly on the seats. The Baleno has been a decently spacious car for a sub-4-metre hatchback. The amount of interior space and boot space is well engineered here.

Features

The Baleno facelift comes with a commendable list of features for the price. They include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

This comes paired with a 6-speaker Clarion sound system. What's also new in the facelift is ventilated front seats. The Baleno also gets a heads-up display, auto climate control, cruise control, connected car technology, and keyless entry with engine push-button start.

Safety

The Baleno is a family car for lakhs of people in the country, and so Maruti has packed in a decent list of safety features. They include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera, ISOFIX child seat mounts and reverse parking sensors.

The 2026 Baleno now also gets Level-2 ADAS features, which is a first in the segment. The Baleno has scored 4 stars in the Bharat NCAP crash safety tests, further proving its safety credentials.

Powertrain

The 2026 Baleno comes with two powertrain options. It gets the new 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT transmission. The other option is a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with CNG, which comes with a 5-speed manual transmission. Powertrain specifications are as follows:

The Baleno facelift now comes with an AMT option with CNG powertrain as well.

Rivals

The Baleno goes up against other sub-4 metre premium hatchback contenders like the Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20, and the Toyota Glanza.

The 2026 Maruti Suzuki Baleno is a great all-rounder and is a top seller. And it is so for a good reason. Unoffensive design, good space, commendable fuel efficiency, and solid reliability paired with good pricing make it a default pick for many shopping in this space.
