The Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV has been launched in India and it is priced at Rs 2.25 crore (ex-showroom) onwards. This is the first ever electric Maybach from the German carmaker and it is based on the standard EQS SUV. While it does get a similar powertrain, it has its own distinctive looks inside and out, and packs plentiful extra luxury.
Design
First of all, it gets the signature Maybach dual-tone finish which is available in multiple colours. It comes with a massive grille with vertical chrome inserts and a sleek connected LED DRL setup. The attention to detail is at its peak, especially in the faux airdams, having small Maybach badging on either side of the bumper.
The profile accentuates the dual-tone finish, and you also notice the massive 21-inch alloy wheels, which are available in different designs. The profile has an overall sleek look with flush fitting door handles, and it gets dollops of chrome touches on the side step and on the window line.

The rear also looks pretty sober with a flat design, and the only thing that stands out is the connected LED tail lamp setup, which gets a spiral-like design at the edges.
The cabin, however, is where you notice the luxury. Like other high-end Mercedes models, it gets soft touch leather on all surfaces, but the highlight of this cabin is the dashboard, which is completely taken over by the MBUX Hyperscreen unit, comprising three screens - a digital driver’s display, the main touchscreen infotainment system and a passenger screen.
The dash also gets a sleek ambient lighting strip running across the boundary of the MBUX system, and the centre console has wooden inserts for added luxury.
Features & Safety
Apart from the triple screen setup, which has a digital driver’s display, a touchscreen infotainment system, and passenger touchscreen, it also gets two individual panoramic sunroofs, wireless phone chargers for both front and rear passengers, and electrically adjustable front and rear seats with memory function.
All four seats of the Maybach EQS SUV get ventilation and heating, along with multiple massage modes, and this SUV gets gesture controls, using which you can control the touchscreen, open the sunroof, and close the doors.

For passenger safety, it gets 11 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) features like lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control.
Battery Pack & Range
Mercedes offers the Maybach EQS SUV with a 122 kWh battery pack, which is mated to a dual-motor setup with all-wheel-drive. This setup churns out 658 PS and 950 Nm, and the SUV can sprint from naught to 100 kmph in just 4.4 seconds. With this battery pack, it gets a WLTP-claimed range of 611 km.
The EQS 680 SUV supports fast charging of up to 200 kW, and it gets a range of 300 km with 30 minutes of charging time.
Rivals
With its price of Rs 2.25 crore (ex-showroom), the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV is an EV alternative to the Bentley Bentayga, and is also an affordable rival to the Rolls Royce Spectre.
