The Tata Nexon is offered with two engine options. There is a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol motor which produces 110PS/170Nm and a 1.5-litre diesel engine which churns out 110PS/260Nm. Both engines come mated to a 6-speed manual or AMT gearbox. Additionally, both SUVs get multiple driving modes - City, Eco, and Sport -, which alter the way the engines deliver power. Speaking of which, the diesel engine has a nice and linear power output in both manual and AMT versions. The petrol manual though feels a bit spiky in the city and needs you to constantly play with the gears. Tata has fixed that issue with the AMT version. The power delivery feels smoother and the lag is virtually unnoticeable as well. Tata Nexon Road Test Review - https://bit.ly/2hXin8c

  • Q. How is your opinion on nexon...?

This is the first car I bought after reaching India. My son had a Maruti Swift, very good car, value for money but I did not like manual cars because last 20 years I have been using full automatic cars, mainly toyota. From my exprience Nexon petrol is very powerful, comfortable to drive, but poor mileage. You don't believe I drove this car even on the top of rock type road. I think even Tata does not believe. My only concern with Tata is their after sales service. Though in Kerala it is improved, still not upto my satisfaction because mechanics in Tata garage in Kerala has no dedication of work and no integrity in handling a customers vehicle with some amount of sincerity. It is the work culture of Kerala. Also worst roads in the country are in Kerala especially cochin, no use having a good vehicle.

The strongest point of Nexon is its price. You literally get a compact SUV at the price of a hatch. The only C-SUV which comes closer is the Venue but that too for the naturally aspirated variant. The turbo variant comes costly. That being said, Its a safe car as everyone knows. Plus you have got really cool features in the interior and exterior of the vehicle. I admit, this may not be the perfect C-SUV, but who really cab create a perfect car in this budget?

I bought nexon xma (automatic) petrol version on may 2019 at Delhi. I was afraid after sale service. But once I visit for first service my perception is changed. Believe me Tata has improved a lot. Free coffee and snacks given to me. One staff was assigned for my car related jobs. No unnecessary service Or charge taken. I am impressed with Tata after sale service improvement.

  • Q. Is Nexon Revotronn XZ Plus duel tone good to buy?
    Zigwheels
    Zigwheels | 7 months ago

The XZ+ is the trim where you get all the bells and whistles that Tata has been touting. There are a lot of things to flaunt here, such as tambour door on the central console, DRLs, passive keyless entry, push-button start/stop, 16-inch alloys and more. Further, for a premium of around Rs 20,000, you get the dual-tone version, which really stands out compared to other models of the Nexon. The XZ+ trims do spike the desirability quotient manifold, but the asking price is slightly on the higher side. Overall, buy it if your budget allows as this trim offers one of the best packages in the sub-4m space.

  • Q. I took a test drive but I am worried about noise of petrol engine and 3 cylinder in it . Do you think that it is trustworthy for longtime , especially engine as I have to drive it in Hilly area. - Nexon?
    Soumik
    Soumik | 3 days ago

If u r in a hilly area don't buy nexon because it's A pillar is very thick which would hinder ur view during turns... As for engine it doesn't matter it is engine is 3 cylinder or 4 cylinder... The difference between them is 3 cylinders would make bit noise but would return more mileage n 4 cylinders make less noise n returns less mileage

Yes, the engine is reliable but the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine isn’t, however, as exciting or refined as the diesel unit. The petrol engine feels quite sluggish, and in case you’re driving with a full house, the progress gets much slower. Although, it will not hamper your driving experience.

  • Q. Whether petrol option is good in Tata Nexon. Whether it would be a value for money?
    Devraj
    Devraj | 4 months ago

If you are considering to purchase a decent petrol powered SUV then Nexon is indeed a good option. 1.2 Litre 3Cyl petrol churns out enough power to take the nexon to cruising speeds pretty comfortably. if I talk about maneuvering then yes it's one of the best in the segment. ground clearance is just class apart. I am using the AMT version in Pune and i am satisfied with the mileage considering the traffic scene.

Now i think we should prefer only petrol vehicles fo personal use considering the new BS6 norms. And Nexon petrol is good, but dont expect it to be butter smooth like a Baleno or I20. It would be a chunky powerful mean machine, ready to revv. So, you will have to deal with little bit of vibrations inside the cabin. Else its a wonderful machine.

Comfortable driving, good front visibility, good road clearance, wide tires so good road grip, spacious inside, value for money, negative points low mileage, poor visibility of vehicles coming behind thru inside mirror.

  • Q. Any Nexon petrol owner here please help me, i m going to buy this car but m confused between diesel and petrol, please tell me about the mileage Maintenance, reliability and performance.
    Zigwheels
    Zigwheels | 1 year ago

Choosing between diesel and petrol version will depends on your daily car running. If you are traveling less than 50-60km a day, opt for a petrol car instead of a diesel. With the extra Rs 1-1.50 lakh spent on a diesel purchase, you can actually drive a similar petrol car for as many as two years! So, do your math carefully. A diesel usually makes sense if you are driving above 60/70km a day. Also Read - Tata Nexon Road Test Review: https://bit.ly/2hXin8c

Brother Go for the petrol version. Its performance is very good and is a fantastic car. Mileage is little bit low as of my observation its 14-18kmpl depends on your driving style. Maintenance is not much its easily affordable and its a very reliable and durable car and build quality is superb in this and safety is best in this segment and a very good ground clearance of almost 21cm.

Nexon is Total VFM and both offers things which are unique to them only. Both cars driving behavior & comfort levels are completely different as well. Take a long test drives and then ask yourself which car do you relate most as per your comfort & driving. Happy Driving !
