Q. Please help me to choose the best bike in under 1.5 lakh
  • You can have a look at Yamaha YZF R15 V3, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and Suzuki Intruder. TVS Apache RTR 160 4V: If a bike has to survive in the cut-throat 160cc two-wheeler segment, it needs to be competitively priced and pack enough performance to keep riders happy. Thankfully, the Apache RTR 160 4V delivers well on both fronts with class leading features. The Apache RTR 160 4V is not only the most refined RTR we have ridden till date but also one of the most refined 160cc motorcycles to be ever produced in India. Suzuki Intruder: It is a cruiser that looks like a 250cc model and gets the positive traits of the Gixxer like peppy performance and handling. The ride is on the stiffer side but it gets better with a pillion. If you like its imposing looks and are looking for a comfortable ride to replace your daily commute, this might be it. Yamaha YZF R15 V3: We rode the new R15 v3.0 on both the racetrack and in the real world. While the R15 has grown larger and more powerful, it needs a certain level of expertise to tame. The more committed ergonomics make for an uncomfortable ride in the city. If you are looking for a dynamically competent bike that you’d like to hone your riding skills on and don't mind the committed riding position, the Yamaha R15 v 3.0 is the one to go for. It's a bike we'd love to have in our garage but its ergonomics limit its practicality. That's the reason it can not be our primary everyday bike. Q. Which is the best scooter in India?
  • So, I'll just make it a little harder to understand at first but if you carefully read my answer till the end you might get your answer 1.scooters that are rich in FEATURES A. Tvs ntorq heavily loaded with features gets an led display Gauge which shows lap time speed average speed fuel light, you can connect your smartphone to it and get directions, know who is calling you. B. Suzuki burgman does get an digital display but doesn't have all those exiting features C. Aprilia Sr 150 &125 Gets digital display can connect your smartphone too it but doesn't have lap time and other goodies as ntorq D. Honda grazia well, it just has a digital screen that shows speed and fuel Guage that's it. 2 PERFORMANCE A. APRILIA SR 150 AND 125 150 is a monster brilliant acceleration o-60kph in 6.7 seconds and 0-100 in 26.3 seconds 125 isn't as as exhilarating to drive as as 150 but it does have its numbers too. 0-60kph in 8.8 seconds 0-100 in well it doesn't gets to hundred top speed is 97kph B. TVS NTORQ a brilliant scooter acceleration time 0-60 in 9 seconds 0-100 kph well. it doesn't reach 100kph either but some claim that it does but I've tested it and it reaches 96 kph easily and well struggles after that. C. SUZUKI BURGMAN Acceleration times are 0-60 in 11 seconds around top speed of 94kph D. Honda grazia 0-60 kph in 11 seconds Top Speed 92kph 3.MILEAGE A.HONDA GRAZIA WITH 41 KML B. TVS NTORQ WITH 38 KML C. SUZUKI BURGMAN WITH 36 KML, D. APRILIA 150 WITH 32 AND 125 WITH 33 KML HANDLING A. APRILIA BROTHERS nothing comes close to their handling they are nimble and their suspension is stiffer for better handling and can easily take some high speed corners B. TVS NTORQ does handle brilliantly but has a softer suspension so not as good as Aprilia boys C. Suzuki burgman Well it has softer suspension but it's lighter than ntorq so it's quite agile in traffic but really can't take a corner as flat as ntorq or Aprilia boys D. Honda grazia Well it's not really a scooter for handling or fun/joy riding. So as we got that away I would suggest you to buy TVS NTORQ NOTHING COMES CLOSE TO WHAT IT DOES BRILLIANT RIDE QUALITY, HANDLES WELL TOO, ACCELERATION TIMES ARE BETTER, POWER IS ALWAYS THERE WHEN YOU SLAM THE THROTTLE. FEATURES LIKE NO OTHER SCOOTERS IN THIS SEGMENT OR ANY OTHER ATLEAST IN INDIA. CHEAPER THAN OTHERS. WELL IT DEPENDS ON THE CITY AND STATE BUT WHATEVER YOU PAY ITS WORTH WHILE. FOR THIS SCOOTER IT CAN CARRY YOU SHOPPING BAGS, CAN SEAT A PILION IN COMFORT AND WHEN YOUR ALONE YOU CAN HAVE SOME FUN IN THE STRAIGHT LINE AND EVEN THE CORNERS.

Q. What is the difference between monoshok and normal suspension?
  • If we talk about Twin shock absorbers(conventional), as the name suggests, it refers to two shock absorbers at the rear end of a motorcycle. Firstly used in the off-road motorcycles of 1970s and 80s, these gave a benefit of increased rear wheel travel due to which they were highly accepted. On the other hand, manufacturers started implementing mono shock absorbers in their motorcycles due to many reasons. After research, it was found that monoshocks delivered a far better performance than the conventional twin shock absorbers. In this setup, a single shock absorber is connected from the swingarm to the motorcycle’s frame. It is not directly connected to the swingarm, instead uses a linkage, which helps in providing a rising rate of damping to the rear. Furthermore, monoshocks eliminate torque from the swingarm more efficiently, offers better handling and stability and are easy to adjust than twin shock absorbers as only one unit is used.

Q. Could you please suggest me a best cruise bike(BS-6) as I do go as pillion for long week-end drives and very limited use(max 5 kms/day) within Bangalore city. My preference are Mileage, Comfortable, Style and of-course price(1.2-1.5 Lakhs). These are in my mind(Avenger 220 cruise, Jawa-42, Royal Enfield Classic) but need your expertise/suggestions.
  • Avenger 220 Cruise is a good buy. Its quite pocket friendly as well when maintenance come into the picture. Jawa and RE Thunderbird comes around 2L on-road Bangalore. Test ride the 3 bikes and go for the one you like. I use the Cruise 220 and ride it usually on Bangalore traffics and get mileage roughly around 30-34 kmpl.
  • As per your requirements, Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220 would be a great pick. It offers a comfortable riding position and gets good engine gearbox combo. Also, it delivers best Fuel Efficiency in the segment. Do take a test ride in order to clear your all doubts.Check out authorised dealership details.
