KTM 390 Adventure X[2023-2024]

Price: Priced at Rs 2,80,652, the KTM 390 Adventure X is Rs 58,094 less expensive than the standard model, which costs Rs 3,38,746 (both ex-showroom Delhi). That is a significant price drop off the sticker. Last but not least, the 390 Adventure X has a different colour scheme than the original model, which is Atlantic Blue & Dark Galvano Black(same as standard).

Design: In terms of design, the 390 Adventure X looks the same as the standard edition and gets all LED-lighting too. The design is inspired by the KTM 450 Rally.

Features: Features are where the 390 Adventure X feels barebone, especially compared to the standard variant. First off, it gets a simpler 5-inch LCD instrument console (like the 250 Adventure) and not the colour TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity as on the standard edition. In terms of electronics and rider aids it misses out on MTC (traction control), two riding modes, cornering ABS, ride-by-wire, and Quickshifter Plus (for both up and downshifts). Off-road ABS (which deactivates the rear unit for some slideways fun), a slipper clutch, and a 12V USB port are the only things it gets. While KTM doesn't mention the X variant gets ride-by-wire, we still think it will.

Engine: The KTM 390 Adventure X sees no change in the performance department. The 373cc engine in the 390 Adventure X produces exactly the same 43.5PS and 37Nm as the more premium Standard model. That said, it gets WP APEX USD big-piston forks instead of the WP APEX USD open-cartridge fork in the standard edition (both bikes have the same 170mm wheel travel). Both models however get the same 10-step adjustable (pre-load and rebound) monoshock at the rear (with 177mm wheel travel). It rolls on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloys and will also come with spoke wheels very soon. Finally, it comes shod in MRF MoGrip Meteor tyres instead of the Metzeler Tourance rubber in the standard bike.

Rivals: At Rs 2.8 lakh the 390 Adventure X costs about Rs 34k more than the 250 Adventure at this price bracket, but is also significantly less expensive than the BMW G 310 GS (Rs 3.2 lakh). It's interesting to note that at this pricing, potential owners of the Royal Enfield Himalayan can think about spending extra to get almost twice as much power, especially if they choose the top-end Sleet Black colour variation, which sells for Rs 2.28 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Variants: Currently in India, the 390 Adventure is offered in two variants - 390 Adventure (standard) and 390 Adventure X. If and when the wire-spoke rims and adjustable suspension version arrives, it could be the third, more off-road-focused variant to feature in this lineup.
