TVS had recently launched the BS6-complaint Apache RTR 160 4V and the Apache RTR 200 4V in India. But with the new stricter emission norms, do the new Apache 4Vs fall short in terms of performance? Well, we got a chance to rest the BS6 Apache 4Vs at TVS’ test track at Hosur and here’s what we found out.
In terms of features, both motorcycles come equipped with a new all-LED headlamp and the Glide Through Traffic (GTT) feature. Apart from this, the only additional feature that the RTR 200 4V has received over the 160 4V is Bluetooth compatibility. Both motorcycles have received minor cosmetic updates as well in the form of new decals and a dual-tone seat cover (available only on the RTR 160 4V).
The BS6 Apache RTR 160 4V is powered by the same 159.7cc engine as before. However, this motor now churns out 16.02PS and 14.12Nm, which is 0.77PS and 0.68Nm less than the BS4-compliant version. The BS6-compliant Apache RTR 200 4V’s power output remains the same at 20.5PS, however, the peak torque has gone down from 18.1Nm to 16.8Nm. Transmission duties are handled by a five-speed gearbox in both motorcycles. Except for this, both motorcycles share the same cycle parts as their BS4 variant.
