Q. What will be the service cost of Tiger 800 XR if i need to change the brake pad(Front & Rear) & chain spoket?

Answer

Regular servicing is around the Rs. 7000–8000/- mark, but the service at 20,000 kms requires the engine head to be opened and the valve clearances to be adjusted. It requires adjustment of 12 valve shims (4 valves per cylinder x 3 cylinders) and costs a whopping Rs. 25,000/- for that service.

You can go for Benelli 502 not the X which is taller. I'm owning one for 3 years now and clocked 8k in mileage. Real value for money tourer. Cant be your daily commute though. 800mm seat height, anyone 5ft 5inch can be comfortable.

Do take a test ride for before buying. If you only focus on touring then go for Dominor 400. However, if you are looking for both city & highway riding, then this is the best bike according to me. It is absolutely stress-free both in city & highway even if you carry pillion rider. You can easily cruise in 110-120 kmph.

Triumph has upped the displacement on its middleweight Tiger with the inline three-cylinder engine now displacing 888cc. Max power remains the same at 95PS like the old motor but torque has seen a sizeable bump up to 87Nm, which is 8Nm more. The bike now offers better low- and mid-range response, top-spec adjustable suspension and Brembo Stylema calipers and engine’s new punchy characteristics. Moreover, the 870mm seat height may look a bit daunting on spec sheet but the bike is fairly manageable. I have the Low seat on the 2014 800xc and it fits me fine at 5'9' I am on my toes though. The 800xr is lower and unless you are going to do more aggressive offroad riding then dirt roads and dirt trails I bet you would be fine on the XR with the appropriate tires. I have used the Shinko 705s on my Kawasaki Versys as did my son and we road some rather rocky technical terrain with that setup. The 800XR is a more capable bike then the Versys in my opinion. I also have the BMW G650GS and that has a very low seat height that my wife at 5'6' is flatfooted on.

Q. What is the difference between the Tiger XCa and Tiger XCx?

The XC variants are the more off road oriented Tigers. XCa is the top spec one. WP suspension, spoked wheel and tubed tyres, raised fender, aux lights and heated grips and seat make it the most expensive.XCx has the tubeless alloy wheels. Doesn't have the WP suspension. Not sure about differences in rider modes and electronics. There is a lower height XRx that can be ordered I think.

Im around 5,10 and with the lowest seat setting, its all right. But Ive got to wear proper shoes. My advice is to go to a dealer and check it out first hand. The XRX models have a lower height model that you can order. Please ask the dealer about such an option.Happy riding.
