It’s been eight years since the unveiling of the first generation Bentley Continental GT at the Paris Motor Show in 2002. Since, then the 4-seat coupe has taken the world by storm and has been one of the most successful models in the history of the British Marquee.

Carrying forward the success and recognition of its predecessor, the new Bentley Continental GT has been designed by the same crew, which designed the first generation model. After its global unveiling at the 2010 Paris Motor Show in October last year, the new beautifully sculptured crispier looking model now makes it way to Indian shores, courtesy Exclusive Motors Pvt. Ltd.

Officially launched at their dealership in Delhi earlier this month, the new Bentley Continental GT sets higher standards in design and luxury by offering everything to its driver and co-passengers at the push of a button. A new 30GB touch screen infotainment system introduces advanced satellite navigation with dynamic route guidance, seven-digit postcode entry and Google Map compatibility (market specific).

On the technology front, the new GT Coupe is powered by Bentley’s acclaimed 6-litre, 12-cylinder, twin-turbocharged engine, and now has an increased power output of 575PS and 700Nm of torque as compared to the 500PS of power in the former model. Thanks to advanced FlexFuel technology it can also run on both standard unleaded petrol (gasoline) and sustainable bioethanol (up to E85) or any mix of the two.

A new six-speed quick-shift transmission enabling double downshifts and an all-wheel drive capability that can instantaneously adjust the power split between the front and rear wheels depending on the available grip is standard with new Continental GT model. The new Continental GT’s power-to-weight ratio, makes it capable of accelerating from zero to 60mph in just 4.4 seconds (0-100km/h in 4.6 seconds) with a top speed of 198mph (318km/h).

Commenting on the brand’s thoughts behind launching the new Continental GT model here in India, Bentley Regional Director, India Chris Buxton said, “We believe the new GT will be very successful in the Indian market. Feedback from current GT customers is very positive as they enjoy the all-round capability of the GT when driving on Indian roads i.e it has super car performance, high ground clearance and 4 wheel drive. The growth of the India economy will help us to grow our volume in the market and so far we have taken ten orders for the new GT.”

The new Continental GT is available at Exclusive Motors Showroom at Samrat Hotel in New Delhi and is priced at Rs 1.9 crore (ex showroom subject to exchange rate and options).
