SsangYong Motor Company has showcased the first official sketches of the next-gen Rexton concept SUV i.e. the SsangYong Limitless Interface Vehicle (LIV-2), also known as the Y400. The concept was revealed ahead of the upcoming 2016 Paris Motor Show. The Limitless Interface Vehicle-2 will be the final concept of the upcoming 2017 Rexton SUV (Y400). The final LIV-2 concept is the latest iteration of the LIV-1 concept, which made its debut at the 2013 Seoul Motor Show.
The production version of the new 2017 Rexton will stay true to the LIV-2 concept which is based on the brand’s latest design language --‘Dignified Motion.’ Reportedly, the upcoming SUV will be based on a brand new chassis which will help the car shed nearly 50kg compared to the outgoing version. However, the car will continue on the same body-on-frame structure. The upcoming SUV will be the first substantial upgrade of the Rexton since its inception in late 2001.
Details about the features of the latest upcoming SUV are still scarce, but, mechanically, the next-gen Rexton will be powered by a 2.2-litre oil burner, which was introduced with the latest iteration of the SUV. Apart from that, the SUV also might get the newly developed 2.0-litre, GDi, turbo petrol engine.
The 2017 Rexton (Y400) will hit the European market by next year, while its Indian debut is likely to takeplace sometime around later next year or early 2018. Now, we just need to wait and see what all SsangYong has to offer with this upcoming SUV.
