US-based Victory Motorcycles has unveiled its first bike for India at the ZigWheels stall at the 2012 Auto Expo in Delhi. The motorcycle-maker is scheduled to launch its range of bikes in the country late 2012.

Victory Vision unveiled at ZigWheels stall

After almost a year of speculation and rumours, US-based motorcycle manufacturer, Victory, has finally confirmed its foray into the Indian market. The company showed off its first product, the Vision, at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo but the unveiling was made even more special with the bike being put on display at the ZigWheels stall during the five-day Expo!

The Victory Vision is a massive touring motorcycle with full fairing and hard saddle bags, akin to the Honda Goldwing, and is intended to be a long-distance mile muncher with all the luxuries a bike can ever have, and then some. The Vision features a 1,740cc Vee-Twin engine capable of producing 93PS of power and, more importantly, a phenomenal 148Nm of torque.

The Iowa-based company is famous for manufacturing luxury touring bikes, classic-styled motorcycles and powerful inter-state cruisers, among several others. The bike maker is part of Polaris Industries, which has already made its presence felt in India by launching its brand of ATVs. The decision to enter the Indian market seems to be in response to its chief rival, Harley Davidson, selling a fair number of its products in the country, making Victory Motorcycles the second American bike maker to land on Indian shores.

At this stage, Victory Motorcycles hasn’t released details about which motorcycles it’ll chose to bring to India or the pricing strategy. Perhaps, the company will announce plans later this year once a thorough analysis of the Indian luxury motorcycle market is done. Although the initial lot of bikes could be brought in directly from the US as CBU units, there is a good chance of Victory following Harley-Davidson’s example to set up an assembly plant in the country, which, in turn, will allow them to price their products competitively.
