The story started when Nissan used to make the Skyline GT-R, which won the Japanese carmaker a lot of respect in the automotive world. In 2007, the new-generation of Nissan’s flagship performance car was unveiled by Nissan and it was simply tagged as the “GT-R.” Since then, the car has brought the automotive world on its toes. It was the first car ever to be built in a hermetically sealed factory so that none of the components encounter dust or microscopically expand/contract in shape. Earlier this year, at the New York International Auto Show, the 2017 Nissan GT-R was uncovered to the world. Now it has made its way to India as well.
The Japanese car firm announced today that pre-bookings for the 2017 Nissan GT-R are now open in India. Interested customers can pre-order their GT-R by paying a deposit of Rs 25 lakh. The car will be imported in India as a CBU and hence will wear a hefty price tag. In the US, the GT-R costs $109,000 (approximately Rs. 73.7 lakh). In India, after all the taxes, the GT-R’s cost should land between Rs 1.5-2 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, Guillaume Sicard, president, Nissan India Operations, said, “The 2017 GT-R will bring more excitement to the Nissan range in India. GT-R represents the pinnacle of Nissan’s driving performance and this latest model has become even more powerful and luxurious. We are proud to offer this legendary sports car to Indian performance car enthusiasts.”
The GT-R is powered by a 3.8-litre V6 24-valve twin-turbocharged engine that churns out 570PS at 6800 rpm and 637Nm of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission and the combination propels the car from 0-100kmph in less than 3 seconds.
