Honda have launched the face lifted Activa christened the Activa 3G. The Activa 3G signifies that it’s the third generation of the Activa scooter since it was launched in 2001 in our market. The new Honda Activa 3G has been priced at Rs 48,852 (ex-showroom Delhi). The design of the new Honda Activa 3G has been revised as it gets new side panels, redesigned headlamp and taillight alongwith 3D emblem. Features like the viscous air filter, maintenance free battery, tubeless tyre and key lock shutter have been carried forward from the older generation Honda Activa.
The updates made on the new Honda Activa 3G are restricted to the cosmetic front and no changes have been made to the engine. Powering the new Honda Activa 3G is the standard 109cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder motor producing 8PS of peak power and 8.7Nm of peak torque. The powerplant is mated to a CVT transmission. Honda claims the new Activa 3G will have a fuel efficiency figure of 60kmpl. Suspension duties are handled by trailing link setup at the front and twin shock at the back. We personally feel that Honda should have provided telescopic forks at the front to improve ride quality which has been its Achilles Heel. Braking is done by drum brakes at front and rear while CBS (Combi Braking System) is standard. The new Honda Activa 3G will be pitched against the TVS Jupiter, Yamaha Alpha, Mahindra Gusto and Hero Maestro in the scooter segment.
