With the 2014 Indian Auto Expo just a few days away, news about various concepts and production ready cars keeps tricking in. With over 50 launches slated for the Auto Expo and over 10 global concept car unveils, the 2014 Indian Auto Expo will definitely be biggest one yet.
The Mahindra group is slated to have a huge stall with everything from the Mahindra SUVs, Ssangyong, Mahindra 2-wheelers and Mahindra-Reva under one roof. With a small-SUV concept based on the lines of the SIV-1 likely to attract attention there are also rumours of a possible new concept from Mahindra-Reva. The new Mahindra Reva concept is likely to be something we have never seen Mahindra-Reva do before and is likely to attract the enthusiasts market as compared to the conventional Mahindra Reva E20 customer. Mahindra is also going to display its brand new Formula-E car. Between these and the expected production ready Mahindra Mojo 300cc motorcycle, one can expect a lot of activity at the Mahindra stall.
General Motors on the other hand will be displaying some hot American muscle cars like the newly launched Corvette C7 (maybe even the Z06 version) and the Camaro. The most important car on the General Motors stand though will be the new Compact-SUV concept based loosely on the Chevrolet Trax. The new compact-SUV will go up against the likes of the Ford Ecosport and will be instrumental if General Motors wants to create any impact in India in 2014.
Tata Motors are another brand to watch out for at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. With a plethora of cars expected at their enclosure, the big news will be the all-new hatchback, the Tata Bolt. The new Bolt is essentially a Tata Vista with all-new body panels and a new interior. The new Bolt will share engine options with the Vista like the 1.3-litre Quadrajet but will also come with the all-new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol Revotron engine. According to spy pictures, Tata has finally ditched the large vertically stacked tail lamps in favour of a more conventional setup. Also expect the new Manza CS sedan to be unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. The Tata Nano too is slated to get an all new AMT (automatic Manual Transmission) gearbox along with the newly updated power steering option.
There will also be Tata’s new compact-SUV on display in concept form. Although an all new car based on the Vista platform was expected, what might be on display instead will be a reskinned version of the Vista Crossover concept that was displayed at the Buddh International Circuit to a bunch of journalists in 2013 instead. Although the Vista Crossover isn’t likely to see production anytime soon, the compact-SUV concept will be indicative of how Tata’s future compact-SUV will look like. The new concept compact-SUV will be accompanied by a one of a kind extreme 4x4 version of the Sumo Gold and a special one-off ‘Touring Edition’ of the Tata Safari Storme.
