We were disappointed when we found out that Mahindra will not be showcasing the 2020 XUV500 and the 2020 Thar at the Auto Expo 2020. But Mahindra has instead showcased its future with an all-electric SUV concept called Funster. It is also giving us a peek into the design language of the much-anticipated 2020 XUV500.
Initial impressions of the Funster? The concept looks like a bigger version of the XUV300, thanks to sleek headlamps and the 7-slot Mahindra grille.
The side profile features pronounced wheel arches and sharp lines further accentuated by eccentric looking alloy wheel design with blue accents. Since this is a design concept without a roof, the limit for speculation is narrow. Nevertheless, we expect to see some of the design elements trickle down to the 2020 XUV500 in the future.
The Funster features dual motor setup with AWD to deliver a whopping 313PS and a top speed over 200kmph. What's even more interesting is the claimed 0-100kmph time of 5 seconds! If you think that's all, you'll be suprised to find out that it can do 520km in one a single charge thanks to a 59.1kWh battery pack.
The 2020 XUV500 is slated for launch by the second half of 2020. Mahindra is expected to plonk in two 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines (BS6) paired with manual and automatic transmissions. What we know for sure is that the new engines will make more output than the outgoing 2.2-litre units. Meanwhile, Mahindra has also showcased the eKUV100 and XUV300 Electric at the Auto Expo 2020.
