Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and Grand Cherokee India Launch On 1st September

Jeep is finally set to enter the Indian market with its two new offerings on the 1st of September, 2016

The Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee were recently showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo after the long delays over the past few years. This company is now all set to enter the Indian market with its two new offerings and the prices for those will be announced on the 1st of September 2016.

The Jeep Wrangler (both 3 and 5-door trims) was initially believed to be slated for launch in India but now it has been confirmed that the Wrangler Unlimited long wheelbase will be the one offered in India. Under the hood of this Unlimited SUV will be a 2.8-litre turbodiesel engine that produces 200PS of power and 460Nm of peak torque, transmitted through a 5-speed automatic gearbox to all four wheels.

On the other hand, the Grand Cherokee will be offered in three different variants: the Limited, Summit, and the SRT, which is the top end variant. The Limited and the Summit will be powered by a 3.0-litr V6 diesel engine capable of producing 240PS. The top end SRT variant will be offered with a massive 6.4-litre V8 petrol engine that produces 475PS of power. All the three variants will get 4x4 drivetrain with an 8-speed gearbox and paddle-shifters.

The Grand Cherokee gets a lot of features such as 8-way adjustable driver and passenger seats with memory, heated front and second row seats, ventilated front seats (Summit and SRT), auto dimming wing mirrors, dual climate control, heated steering wheel, power sunroof, and a 5-inch touchscreen display as standard. The top end SRT gets an 8.4-inch touchscreen interface with a 19-speaker surround sound system by Harman Kardon.

These two offerings from Jeep will get a 2 year/unlimited kilometre warranty. The Wrangler could be priced at Rs 40 lakh, the Grand Cherokee somewhere around Rs 50-55 lakh, and the SRT will be priced above the Rs 1 crore mark.
