After its global unveiling earlier this month, the pre-launch bookings of the Datsun redi-GO have been announced to begin from May 1 through a press release. The Japanese automaker also informed that the deliveries of the vehicle to new owners will commence from June.
Managing director, of Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd, Arun Malhotra said, “With the new redi-GO, we continue to expand and enhance our product offerings for young people in India ready to take a step forward in their lives. We will be taking pre-booking orders starting 1st May, 2016 for customers who are eager to be among the first to own this new offering from Datsun."
As expected, the manufacturer has confirmed the base price of its new compact crossover-hatchback fusion as Rs 2.5 lakh. The cost of Datsun’s smallest offering in India will go up to Rs 3.5 lakh for the top-end model (both prices ex-showroom).
Customers can pre-book their Datsun redi-GO with a fully refundable down payment of INR 5,000 at Nissan dealerships across India, further added the release. Tying up with e-commerce website Snapdeal, Datsun is also offering a chance for prospective customers to book the redi-GO online.

Based on the same platform as its Renault cousin, the Kwid, the Datsun redi-GO stands taller and more aggressive as opposed to the former’s squatting stance. Though, it remains to be powered by the same 800cc motor, good for 54PS and 72Nm, which does duties on the Kwid. Power will be transmitted by a 5-speed manual gearbox but, like the Kwid, an AMT transmission could be expected soon enough.
In order to stay connected with its customers, Datsun has also launched the ‘Datsun India App.’ Available on Google Playstore, the app offers latest news and updates about the Datsun redi-GO.
In flesh though, the car can be experienced in no lesser than 217 outlets across 165 cities in the country. In terms of competition, the car will go up against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 in the segment, apart from the Renault Kwid.
