Bajaj Dominar 400 teaser

This Wednesday, Bajaj officially disclosed the name of its most powerful bike, the Dominar 400, and declared the launch date to be December 15. The company has now launched the official website of the bike donning its teaser image, showcasing the silhouette. But, that’s not the only detail on the website.

Firstly, to reach the web page, visit Bajaj’s official page, where you’ll find a hyperlink on the Dominar’s teaser image, which will guide you to the bike’s microsite. There isn’t much on the web page, except for four columns, which require you to input your contact details if you are interested in the bike. After you have registered on the microsite, you will get access to four things:

  • Invitation to Dominar 400’s live launch, which essentially will be a live streaming link
  • Limited edition online brochures on the launch day
  • Invitation to your city’s launch event
  • Priority test rides
Bajaj Dominar 400 registration

The Dominar 400 is the most powerful bike to carry a Bajaj nameplate and is widely anticipated for the same reason. The microsite carries the tagline ‘The Big Bike For Big Boys’ clearly indicating how Bajaj wants to market it. Also, thanks to Bajaj’s familiarity with the Indian market sentiments the bike is expected to be priced at around Rs 1.7 lakh.

The bike is powered by a 373cc, single cylinder, liquid-cooled engine borrowed from KTM’s 390 motor. However, to suit the performance required by a cruiser, the power and torque delivery curves are expected to offer better low-end juice. The power can hover around 35PS, whereas the torque could be a healthy 33Nm. Moreover, with a long swingarm, and fat tyres (as the earlier spy shots have suggested) the ride is expected to be plush. The high rise handlebar placement, clearly visible in the teaser image, also indicate that the riding posture will stay upright and hence comfortable for long highway hauls.

A clearer picture will only surface when we ride this bike, so till then let's wait and see if Bajaj provides us with more images and specifications of the Dominar 400.
