After a purported leaked roadmap of launches for the near future, Audi has now announced that it will stage as many as 20 launches in 2016 globally. During its Annual Press Conference held at the company’s headquarters in Ingolstadt, Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, stated that the German carmaker is also developing the key areas of electrification and digitisation while a completely new and ultramodern automobile plant will be opened in Mexico, informed a press release.
We had previously reported that Audi will launch no less than 10 cars in India after rival Mercedes-Benz announced the introduction of 12 cars in 2016. As a part of this strategy Audi launched the R8 V10 Plus during the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi along with three other models – the A4, S3 Cabriolet and the A8L Security.
As for the aggressive global stance from the Brand with Four Rings, it comes on the back of a successful 2015, informed the release. The Ingolstadt-based set a new record for unit sales: Worldwide deliveries increased compared with 2014 by 3.6 percent to 1,803,246 automobiles.

As a result of the strong demand, the company achieved a new record also for revenue, posting a figure of €58.4 billion. Operating profit amounted to €4.8 billion and operating profit before special items of €5.1 billion was at the high level of the previous year.
This year too, Audi aims to keep the momentum going, especially after the new Audi Q2 that recently had its world premiere in Geneva. According to the release, the company plans to further develop its strategic areas for the future of electric mobility and digitisation this year.
Thomas Sigi, Board of Management Member for Human Resources at AUDI AG, stated, “We intend to strengthen our core competencies with 1,200 additional experts in Germany alone.”
As for the years to come, the leaked blueprint showed several car launches including the SQ7 and Q7 e-tron while the supposed roadmap for the German carmaker also has at least half-a-dozen car launches slated for 2018.
