  • The next-gen Land Cruiser 300 Series will debut by the end of this month.

  • Its engines are likely to be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission as standard.

  • It will mostly arrive in India by early-2022.

The new Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series could debut as soon as the end of this month, as indicated by leaked documents, which have been embargoed until May-end.

The documents also reveal information on the different variants and their specifications. In South Africa, the source country of this information, the Land Cruiser 300 will be offered in three trims: GX-R, GR-S, and ZX. The base-spec variant will only be offered with a diesel powertrain, whereas the GR-S and top-spec ZX will come with both petrol and diesel powertrains. These could feature a V6 3.3-litre turbo-diesel engine and a V6 3.5-litre twin-turbo petrol engine. The expected choice of transmission could be a 10-speed automatic unit.

The 300 Series will also cater to the needs of two different bases with a premium, comfort-oriented approach in the GX-R and ZX trims, and an off-road-based vehicle in the GR-S trim, which is decked out by Toyota’s Gazoo Racing division. In the premium GX-R and ZX trims, the Land Cruiser gets an independent front suspension and a four-link setup at the rear. These trims will also get Toyota’s adaptive variable suspension whereas the GR-S trim will be fitted with the performance division’s E- Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (E-KDSS) which uses electronics to adjust the sway bars. The top-spec ZX will also get a torque-sensing limited-slip differential while the GR-S will feature front and rear differential locks.

In terms of features, the ZX will get premium additions such as illuminated side steps, a powered tailgate with a kick-sensor, and 20-inch wheels. The more rugged GR-S will get 18-inch wheels and tubular side steps. Both trims will be offered with a 360-degree camera, with a 3D multi-terrain monitor. The rear camera will also get a rear washer to clear any dirt or mud.

While the Land Cruiser 300 Series could very well debut by the end of this month, we can expect it to be offered in India soon after that, probably by early-2022.
