BMW is increasingly looking at high-end cars to make its Indian operations more profitable. Unlike cars like the X1 and the 1 Series where margins aren’t great, cars like the M6 Gran Coupe and the rest of the M range give BMW (and its dealers) the opportunity to make more money per car. The new M4 Convertible is another such car and when it comes to India, it will come in via the CBU route.
The 2015 M4 Convertible is the third new car that BMW has unveiled this year internationally. The luxury carmaker had earlier unveiled the new M3 sedan and the M4 coupe at Detroit and will now officially unveil the 2015 M4 Convertible at the New York Auto Show this year.
Visually, the M4 Convertible gets more aggressive styling over the hard-top 4 Series. The new car receives a revised front bumper with some gaping air intakes, a heavily contoured bonnet and wider front and rear fenders. The front bumper features aerodynamic gills, while the rear bumper houses quad exhaust tips. The M4 also gets new 18-inch alloy wheels, coloured brake calipers and new mirror caps.
What distinguishes the M4 convertible from its siblings is its three-piece metal roof which opens and closes in just 20 seconds. The roof can be operated up to speeds of 18kmph. With the roof stowed away, the boot space shrinks from 370 litres to 220 litres.
The new car receives revised interiors which includes sport seats with special ‘M’ badging and an M-specific steering wheel. There is also some leather like material over the dashboard and centre console. The 2015 BMW M4 convertible is equipped with connectivity options such as Bluetooth and USB. The new car gets front and rear park assistance, folding exterior mirrors and heated front seats.
The engine under the hood of the 2015 BMW M4 Convertible is a 3.0-litre twinpower turbocharged six-cylinder unit that produces 435PS of max power and 550Nm of peak torque. BMW claims that its new car can sprint from 0-100kmph in just 4.2 seconds.
The 2015 BMW M4 convertible will go on sale internationally in September at an approximate price at Rs 60.61 lakh (excluding customs and other levies).
