Third generation Audi TT spotted on Indian roads; 2.0-litre TFSI most likely to come first

2015 Audi TT Spied in India - Front

Just 3 months after the official unveiling of the Audi TT and TTS, the coupe has been spied on Indian roads. The TT was spotted devoid of any camouflage and only with the TT badging removed. The Audi TT two-door sports car is in its third generation now.

While the TT retains its rounded stance and wheel arches, the front and rear have gotten edgier than before and that gives the TT a more grown up look. Sharp headlights with LEDs in contrast to the rest of the design stand out, the large Audi family look trapezoidal grille takes centre stage and the bulging wheel arches give the TT a sporty stance. The rear design takes a far more conservative approach sticking to the second generation shape in almost its entirety.

The TT spotted in India sports the 2.0-litre TFSI Quattro unit. It develops 233PS of power and 370Nm of torque and comes with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed  S tronic dual clutch gearbox. The former as a front wheel drive and the S-tronic with the Quattro all-wheel drive make for more options to pick and choose but for India we expect only the DCT equipped Quattro to make it. It can accelerate to 100 kmph from standstill in 5.3 seconds, 0.9 seconds faster than the manual gearbox variant and has a limited top speed of 250kmph.

The TT is also available with a 2.0-litre TDI for the economy conscious sportscar buyer. It develops 186PS of power and a healthy 380Nm of torque. The range topping TTS pumps in 314PS from the same 2.0-litre TFSI engine and can do the 0-100kmph sprint in just 4.7 seconds. Audi also has a limited run TT RS in the range that develops an insane 425PS of power from the same turbocharged 2.0-litre engine and can hit the 100kmph mark from naught in 3.7 seconds.

The TT slots in a segment under the BMW Z4 and Porsche Boxster and should be priced around the Rs 60 lakh mark for the 2.0-litre TFSI variant.
