The results of the 2012 ET ZigWheels Readers Choice are finally out and the readers have voted the Renault Duster as their favourite car of the year and the Bajaj Pulsar 200NS as the Bike of the Year. The names of the winners were announced at a glittering awards ceremony in Mumbai on January 24, 2013. A total of 1,38,977 votes were cast by readers in the poll which ran on our website for over a month. The Duster received 47,373 votes in all to clinch the title by a massive margin – its closest rival at second place, Maruti Suzuki DZire, received only 12,401 votes.
With striking looks, well-appointed and spacious interior, loads of cargo space, and nice ride quality, the Duster makes for a compelling package. The compact SUV from Renault has been a runaway hit for the French company with 6,000 bookings being registered within the first five days of launch itself. Incidentally, the Duster has also been crowned by our jury members as the 2012 ET ZigWheels Car of the Year and the Entry-level SUV of the Year.
The Readers’ Choice Bike of the Year poll registered a total of 1,31,352 votes. The Pulsar 200 NS, too, triumphed over second favourite Honda CBR 150 by a huge margin with 28,099 votes cast for the Bajaj over Honda’s 15,891 votes. The Pulsar 200NS is also the winner of our Bike of the Year and Enthusiast Motorcycles 180cc – 250cc awards. With the 200NS, Bajaj have yet again re-defined performance biking for the masses. The success mantra for Bajaj has always been to give more at the lowest possible price and they’ve managed the same with the 200NS which is priced at Rs 85,151 (ex-showroom Delhi).
