As our experts got behind the wheel of the new Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line in its media drive from Gateway of India to India Gate, we got the chance to get up close with this sportier German rendition through a set of beautiful real-life images in front of some iconic backdrops. The Tiguan R-Line, which is nearing its official launch, is now up for pre-bookings for buyers, and if you’re eager to sign up for one, we’ve detailed the car in real-life images.
The Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line has six monotone colour options to choose from: Oryx White Mother Of Pearl Effect, Oyster Silver Metallic, Persimmon Red Metallic, Cipressiono Green Metallic, Nightshade Blue Metallic and Grenadilla Black Metallic.
The Tiguan R-Line has sleeker LED headlights and straight eyebrow like DRLs connected by a thin chrome strip spanning across the width of the face. It has a broad blacked-out grille with large air intake vents at both sides. The fascia is further complemented by a silver strip running across the grille.
Coming to the side, the Tiguan R-Line rides on 19-inch newly designed dual-tone alloy wheels, which are accentuated by thin black wheel arches. Apart from that, it has body-coloured door handles, turn-indicator integrated ORVMs and silver roof rails.
At the rear, the Tiguan R-Line gets connected LED taillights, a new bumper accentuated by a chrome strip and a shark-fin antenna. There is a ‘TIGUAN’ badging placed on the lower end of the tailgate and a '4motion' badge towards the bottom right indicating an all-wheel drive option.
Step inside, and you see a dark cabin theme with black upholstery and dashboard. The dashboard is kept minimalist with a large floating infotainment display and horizontal AC vent slats placed on either side, which get chrome surrounds. The three-spoke steering wheel has audio and calling controls mounted on it.
The Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line has been confirmed to come with features like a three-zone automatic climate control, sport seats with lumbar support and massage function, dual wireless phone charger and 30-colour ambient lighting. Additionally, you will also get to see features like a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display and a panoramic sunroof which are already there in its international-spec model.
As for safety, it is confirmed to have ADAS features besides 9 airbags, all four wheel disc brakes, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill start and hill descent assist. It will also get electronic stability control, electronic parking brake, and front and rear parking sensors as its global counterpart.
The German automaker has confirmed more power in the India-bound Tiguan R-Line, which will feature a familiar 2-litre turbo petrol engine that will churn out 204 PS (which is 14 PS more than before) and 320 Nm of torque. It will come paired with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission option and an all wheel drive configuration.
The Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line hasn’t been officially priced yet, however we reckon it will carry a tag of around Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom) upon its launch scheduled on April 14, 2025. That said, this sportier Tiguan R-Line will continue to compete against the likes of Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Meridian, Citroen C5 Aircross and the upcoming new-gen Skoda Kodiaq and MG Majestor.
