The CLE lineup of Mercedes-Benz in India is about to get hotter with the launch of the AMG CLE 53 Coupe on August 12. It comes with aggressively styled design elements featuring AMG-specific bits inside and outside. With the straight-six turbo-petrol engine it makes enough power to put a massive smile to your face while making sure that you sit in a cabin that keeps you comfortable.
Here are all its details:
The AMG CLE looks sleek and stylish from every angle and is designed to turn heads. Up front, it comes with a familiar grille which has vertical elements and houses the Mercedes logo. The LED DRLs look sleek while the bumper is aggressively styled for a sporty look. The long bonnet has some cuts and creases that accentuate its bold presence.

We expect the India-spec version to sit on 19-inch alloy wheels with the option to upgrade to 20-inch ones. The rear end looks stylish with flared out fenders, a quad exhaust unit and gloss-black treatment for the lower section of the bumper.

The interior comes with plenty of AMG-specific elements to add a sense of sportiness inside. It gets a familiar dashboard design and layout with the 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system taking centre stage. The funky trio of AC vents further add a nice touch and you also get a decent number of storage spaces. The AMG CLE 53 comes with a sportier steering wheel finished in Alcantara.

Mercedes has generously used Alcantara, carbon-fibre and red stitching around the cabin. Key features apart from the abovementioned infotainment system include a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Burmester audio system, head-up display, powered seats with memory function, and multi-colour ambient lighting.
The Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 might not have a soulful V8 but it does have a lot of soul. It comes with a 3-litre six-cylinder in-line petrol engine paired with a mild-hybrid system and makes an impressive 449 PS and 560 Nm. With so much power, it sprints from 0-100 kmph in just 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 250 kmph. The engine is mated to a 9-speed DCT, delivering power to all four wheels.
Expected to be launched at about Rs 2 crore (ex-showroom), the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 Coupe is for those who dare to own a machine that might not be very practical or family-friendly, but provides the rush and excitement that your practical sedan or SUV can not. For the filthy rich, it is a good addition to the garage, clearly adding more charm and personality to it.

The CLE Cabriolet is more toned down and not as enthusiast-friendly, the AMG version is a beast. Stay tuned for more such exciting content, and let us know in the comments if you would pick the AMG CLE 53.
