Q. Which is better and reliable AMT or CVT - Nexon?

To the best of my knowledge, in Tata Nexon, it is AMT only and not CVT. Some other brands have CVT and some other both, AMT in Diesel and CVT in Petrol.But if you are going for Nexon, then you have only AMT - and in Nexon AMT according to my experience the design needs many improvements.In case of Nexon AMT, if one does not cautiously, may loose his clutch plates. For example if your foot is off the Break Padel, but Gear is engaged (that is lever in F or R drive position) and hand break applied from moving the car, you are bound to cause accelerated wear of the clutch plates. Such situation is very common in rush that is bumper to bumper trafic in cities, or on trafic halt over a flyover or at the trafic signal. Hence should suggest that one shall have a habit of moving the shift lever to Neutral under above situation, when car with AMT is at standstill.Most of us are moving from convntional manual cars to AMT cars and it is very common that most of us just press the clutch and when at rest and do not move lever to neutral. But in AMT car there is no clutch padle, declutching is done by pressing the break and engaged by lifting foot of the break padle and hence the risk of loosing clutch if not used carefully.I will suggest to pick up and Automatic Drive car either with CVT or true automatic based hydraulic viscous coupling type of principle. True Automatic drive you will find in Tata Hexa or Toyota Inova and other automatic cars of this and higher price range.

AMT and CVT are almost equally reliable but CVT is little bit more smooth and reliable. Tata nexon comes qith AMT
