Punchy engine, fun on the highway more so in Sports mode. Pretty agile, it instills confidence in you while driving at high speed unlike other suvs I've drove due to too soft suspensions or high body roll... It has good stability, almost no body roll, planted and eases out rough roads. The drive modes do work like charm for what they made for, rough mode does changes the drive dynamics, more responsive suspension, etc.Initial issues with drive mode, etc. I'd experienced have ceased after couple of software update which is done free of cost at the service station. The newer version I heard is going to be launched with company fitted sunroof (personally i dont dig it), bigger tyres (from 17 to 18), tyre monitoring system, etc.

  • Q. Can it run on off-road like four wheel mode - Harrier?
    Zigwheels
    Zigwheels | 11 months ago

We can't give any verdict here as it hasn't been launched and we haven't tested yet. The Harrier misses out on a 4x4 system but gets terrain response modes.

  • Q. I was interested to buy a Harrier, but I am having 2nd opinion after enquiring about the SUV with a friend, who recently bought one and facing engine problems. He said the problem started (within 3 weeks!) with steering vibration which was resolved by dealer. The other issue is engine sound inside cabin. He said, that typical old diesel car knocking sound comes during pickup, (after gear shift). Can anyone please explain how a brand new premium SUV (built on Range Rover platform), the show-piece car of TATA Motors, can have such problems?

5k done Agreed on noisy cabin if someone is harsh on accelator pedal. But if someone is gentle it's more silent as other 2.0 diesel engines. Ride quality is buttery smooth no niggles yet. Mileage in city 13 to 14 kmpl and on highways above 18 kmpl. Routine updates from TML makes this car even more user friendly.

  • Q. Has anyone driven it on a long hilly terrain How was the experience And tell something about the ground clearance, does it disappoints - Harrier?

Using Land Rover’s D8 monocoque platform from the Discovery Sport and a diesel engine from Fiat, which is, in fact, the same unit used in the Jeep Compass, the Harrier packs promising mechanicals. Although Tata hasn't given the 4X4 option in it. But it has so of the best in class features such as top variant gets six airbags, ESP, hill hold assist, hill descent control, rollover mitigation, brake disc wiping, traction control, and ISOFIX anchor points. Aside from this, the Harrier also gets three drive modes - City, Sport and Eco - and three Terrain Response modes - Normal, Wet and Rough. More on these in the next section.

  • Q. I am driving XUV 500 for past 4 years, preceded by Scorpio for 4 years. Satisfy me to change over Harrier top model.

Go for test drive of Harrier. Will you like it or not depends on what you want in the car you're buying. Harrier has wonderful interiors, infotainment system, road presence compared to XUV500. But XUV500 has got powerful engine, extra features (sunroof, rear disc brakes, 7 seater) compared to Harrier. Depends on what you want.

  • Q. Do we get any disturbance from engine - Harrier?
    Zigwheels
    Zigwheels | 7 months ago

It gets the 2.0-litre engine from Fiat which is also provided into Jeep Compass with a different state of tune. The only complaint isn’t actually directed at the engine, but the sound insulation. Tyre noise, road noise and the engine drone should have been better damped. The NVH levels are ideal but the lack of proper insulation has not stopped a little bit noise and vibrations entering the cabin.Read More:Tata Harrier: First Drive Review: https://www.zigwheels.com/reviews-advice/reviews/tata-harrier-first-drive-review/32481/

  • Q. What is the mileage and performance of the car - Harrier?

    @ kuldeep | 16 and plus

Its been 2500 kms in a month, City Mode giving 16+ mileage provided you drive within 50-70 speed. In Delhi this speed is not a choice. I have been to Highway drive once and it offered 21kmpl.I am honestly super happy with thr car coz of its road presence, SUV stance, drive quality, mileage Nd style. I have nothing to complain except couple of times infotainment screen hanged but then got fixed automatically while switching off and turning on engine. Nothing beats Harrier. Infact at times, it gives discomfort to fortuner owners when u park next to them 😉
