There are ample of cars available with AMT under this budget such as - Renault Kwid, Maruti Alto K10, Maruti Celerio, Maruti Ignis, etc. As new car purchase would depend on a lot of factors like budget, segment or brand preference, transmission, fuel type, specific feature requirement etc. Hence, we request you to share your inputs so that we can assist you in right direction. If you are travelling less than 50-60km a day, opt for a petrol car instead of a diesel. With the extra Rs 1-1.50 lakh spent on a diesel purchase, you can actually drive a similar petrol car for as many as two years! So, do your math carefully. A diesel usually makes sense if you are driving above 60/70km a day. Click on the following link to search out these cars: https://bit.ly/2uocNCo

There are following options ..Celerio, Tiago, Kwid and Grand I10 (slightly more budget). My first choice will be Grand I 10 Rather than celerio or Tiago. I would prefer Kwid. Which I heard is having better Automatic Gear Mechanism.

If you are a driving enthasuist, you can opt for the manual. I have the manual gearbox, it is very slick shifting unit with short throws, the clutch is light to operate as well. If you need hassle free driving and your most of the travel is within city then AMT makes sense.

  • Q. Is there any major difference in Average of Alto K10 manual and automatic?
    Anantha
    Anantha | 2 months ago

First of all manual has a gear stick and clutch pedal which is operated for movement of the vehicle and to the desired speed and traffic conditions. Whereas, in automatic, clutch pedal and gear stick are absent. Instead, it has inbuilt speed acceleration with only accelerator pedal and brake are available so that driving in tight traffic condition will be hassle free.

Dear Anantha, there is a gear lever in an automatic; P (park), R (reverse) and N (neutral) and D (drive). In some cars there is even a paddle shifter in the steering wheel. In case of the Alto k10, since its an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission), it has R, N, D and you can manually shift gears in sequential mode without the need for a clutch pedal.

  • Q. I want to know how differs auto shift gear from manual gear - Alto K10?

AGS is also known to be Auto Gear Shift is the technology which is offered on the Maruti Cars with a similar mechanism as the AMT which is known to be Automatic manual Transmission. The AMT transmission has the exact same gear and clutch setup as seen in a manual transmission the difference being in a place of a gear lever and the clutch pedal inside the car cabin, which are manually operated by the user, the AMT transmission has a hydraulic actuator system mounted inside the engine which operates both. In simple terms in an AMT transmission, the driver has an option to drive the car in a manual transmission as well as the automatic transmission. Whereas in the Manual Transmission the driver is offered with a clutch and a movable gear stick in the cabin. Most automobile manual transmissions set a forward gear ratio ("gear") as 1,2,3,4,5,6 or even 7, the driver can select the next-higher or next-lower gear according to the engine rpm and speed. The gears are small sprocket rings which are mated with the engine rpm range which is known as gear ratios of the car.

You can be free from the hassle of repeated use of clutch/gear during heavy traffic, the car comes with electronic gear transmission system which transmits the gear according to the speed of vehicle.
