  • Q. Which is good to buy between Honda Amaze V CVT and Dzire VXi AMT?
    Zigwheels | 11 months ago

If you are someone who’d appreciate a smoother drive versus the gear shift head-nod that’s characteristic of the AMT/CVT transmission, then the Amaze should be your pick. On the other hand, the Dzire packs way more features and is a very attractive option over the Amaze with both petrol and diesel engines. Yes, the AMT is not as sophisticated an automatic transmission as the CVT but Maruti has managed to tune it so well that it now leaves very less room to complain.

  • Q. Amaze petrol CVT vs dzire petrol amt??
    Zigwheels | 1 year ago

Honda Amaze CVT: The CVT allows for a shiftless experience which really makes the Honda Amaze a treat in the city. - The diesel engine has the low-end torque to tide over the rubber-band effect typical of CVTs. - As the engine has enough grunt in the low end, the revs never need to rise too high to get the car moving which in turn means even less noise in the cabin. - The slightly heavy steering wheels and a suspension that tends to bob at higher speeds makes the Amaze less of an ideal highway/ghat car. - At city speeds, the suspension has a stiffer edge but handles bumps very well. Sharper bumps are transmitted as an audible thump, but you don’t feel it. - The higher suspension compression can cause the Amaze to bottom out on larger potholes/speedbreakers. So, it is advised to keep the speed in check over such obstacles Maruti Dzire: Maruti says that it has tweaked the gearing and calibration of the AMT in the Dzire. Driving the Dzire diesel AMT in the city is a smooth affair and the creep function further adds to the convenience in stop and go conditions. But out on open roads, the ‘head-nodding’ that’s usually associated with AMT gearboxes (but was surprisingly absent in the Ignis) rears its annoying head when you upshift around the 2000rpm mark. Looking to overtake? You may need to plan your move in advance by slamming the accelerator or slowing down to downshift prior to making that pass. The easier option we feel is to just switch to manual mode but that would mean keeping your left arm occupied. If you want a car that excels at both city and high driving, then it’s got to be the Dzire petrol AMT. The engine is refined and peppy, and the gearshifts are smoother and as per the driver’s requirements.
