Kia Sonet is offered with three engine options: an 83PS 1.2-litre petrol, a 120PS 1.0-litre turbo petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine in 100PS (MT) and 115PS (AT) states of tune. While the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines are offered with a manual transmission, the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol gets the iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) clutchless manual only. Automatic transmission options are only available for the 1.5-litre diesel and 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engines, with the diesel option utilising a proper 6-speed torque converter and a 7-speed DCT for the turbo petrol.
