BMW S 1000 RR Latest Updates
BMW has unveiled the 2022 S 1000 RR with key updates and a new colour that are expected to make their way here by the end of 2021. For full details, check out our story.
Previously, BMW Motorrad had taken the wraps off the track-spec M 1000 RR. While it's based on the S 1000 RR, it makes 6PS more, weights less, uses a ton of carbon fibre components and even gets winglets for extra downforce. Head here for a complete lowdown on the bike.
BMW will launch its flagship BS6-compliant S 1000 RR next month. Sources suggest the Standard and Pro variant will be introduced first followed by the top-spec Pro M Sport in November 2020. Prices are expected to remain unchanged at Rs 18,50,000, Rs 20,95,000 and Rs 22,95,000 respectively. Customers can book the bike for a token amount of Rs 3 lakh.
Apart from a BS6-compliant engine, the S 1000 RR will remain identical to the 2019 model. It features an extensive set of updates in terms of design, electronics and underpinnings.
The latest update for the BMW S 1000 RR brought with it a complete new bodywork. The design is more symmetrical and compact, compared to the bulbous, asymmetrical lines of the current bike. To keep the design as tight as possible, the front turn indicators have been relocated to the mirrors while the tail lamp has been integrated into the rear turn indicators. New features include twin LED headlamps and a new 6.5-inch colour TFT instrument console with multi-controller on the left handlebar.
The new 999cc motor makes 207PS at 13,000rpm, 8PS more than the outgoing S 1000 RR. While the peak torque of 113Nm remains the same, it now comes 500rpm later, at 10,500rpm. You can read all about the bike in detail here.
Once launched, the BS6 BMW S 1000 RR will take on the BS4 Ducati Panigale V4 (Rs 20.57 lakh), Yamaha R1 (Rs 20,39,233), the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R (Rs 13,99,000) and the upcoming Honda CBR1000RR-R.

Must Read Questions & Answers Before Buying S 1000 RR
- Both BMW S 1000 RR and Ducati Streetfighter V4 are brilliant pieces of machinery. While BMW Motorrad has done impressive work with the 2019 S 1000 RR, BMW India certainly seems to have pulled a rabbit out of its hat with the pricing. The S 1000 RR might have lost its sharper styling but it is narrower than before, with a smaller fuel tank as well. This has made the bike easier to straddle and easier to lock yourself onto while cornering. The bike is surprisingly comfortable for a superbike with plenty of room in the saddle. On the other hand, Ducati recently launched its 200PS monster, the Streetfighter V4, in India starting at Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Sure it’s packed with all the bells and whistles but it can be a handful for many. The Ducati Streetfighter V4 is one of the most powerful and mental nakeds in the world. It looks equally deadly, especially in the Dark Stealth option. The phenomenal pricing is just the cherry on the cake. If you are looking for a powerful street-legal naked bike, then the Streetfighter V4 is a no-brainer. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test ride for a better understanding of performance and comfort.
