How does Aprilia’s newest, most affordable 125cc scooter stack up against its competition on paper?May 30, 2019 | By Team ZigWheels
Aprilia Storm Latest Updates
Aprilia has launched the Storm at Rs 65,000 (ex-showroom, Pune). At this price point, the most affordable Aprilia is around Rs 8,000 cheaper than the next most affordable Aprilia, the SR 125. Dealerships across the country have already started accepting bookings for the new Storm 125.
The Storm shares its underpinnings, motor and bodywork with the SR 125. To stand apart, it gets new licery and brighter matte yellow and matte red colour options.
Power is courtesy of a 124.9cc air-cooled, single-cylinder motor that also appears on the SR 125. It makes 9.6PS of power and 9.9Nm of torque. The scooter gets a CVT transmission. Suspension setup includes telescopic forks and a rear monoshock. The biggest change in underpinnings is the inclusion of smaller 12-inch wheels fitted with chunky Vee dual-purpose tyres. Tokeep costs down, the Storm 125 misses out on a front disc brake and instead uses drum brakes on both wheels for braking. It gets CBS as standard fitment.
The Aprilia Storm 125 competes with the TVS NTorq 125 (Rs 58,252), Honda Grazia (Rs 60,723), Suzuki Access 125 (Rs 61,235) and the recently-launched Hero Maestro Edge 125 (Rs 58,500).

Aprilia Storm Highlights
Powering the SR 125 is a 124.9cc air-cooled, single-cylinder motor that makes 9.6PS of power and 9.9Nm of torque. The scooter gets a CVT transmission.
Design and Features
The Storm gets the Aprilia SR 125's bodywork but looks funkier thanks to new graphics, two new bright colours: matte yellow and matte red; and chunky 12-inch dual-purpose tyres.
The Aprilia Storm 125 faces competition from the TVS NTorq 125 (Rs 58,252), Honda Grazia (Rs 60,723), Suzuki Access 125 (Rs 61,235) and the recently-launched Hero Maestro Edge 125 (Rs 58,500).
The Aprilia Storm is a good option if you are on the lookout for a funky looking 125cc scooter. However, it does not offer much in terms of seat comfort and storage space. Given that the Storm uses the SR's underpinnings and suspension setup, we expected the suspension to be on the stiffer side. However, the chunky high profile tyres should take an edge off the stiff ride.
