Aprilia Storm Latest Updates

Aprilia showcased the BS6-compliant Storm 125 at the 2020 expo. The BS6-compliant Storm 125 retails at Rs 85,431 (ex-showroom Pune). Apart from a minor cosmetic tweak, the rest of the scooter remains the same as the older model.

The BS6-compliant 124.9cc air-cooled, single-cylinder motor makes around 9.5PS of power and 10Nm of torque. The scooter gets a CVT transmission. Suspension setup includes telescopic forks and a rear monoshock. The biggest change in underpinnings is the inclusion of smaller 12-inch wheels fitted with chunky Vee dual-purpose tyres. To keep costs down, the Storm 125 misses out on a front disc brake and instead uses drum brakes on both wheels for braking. It gets CBS as standard fitment.

The Aprilia Storm 125 competes with the TVS NTorq 125, Honda Grazia, Suzuki Access 125, Hero Maestro Edge 125, the Honda Activa 125 and the Yamaha Ray ZR125.

Aprilia Storm Highlights

The Storm is the most affordable scooter you can buy in India. At Rs 65,000 (ex-showroom, Pune), it is around Rs 8,000 more affordable than the SR 125. It shares its body panels, motor and underpinnings with the SR 125. However, the Storm looks funkier thanks to different body panels, brighter colours and chunky 12-inch wheels. To keep costs low, the Storm misses out on features like underseat USB, gets a single halogen bulb setup and gets a drum brake setup instead of a front disc brake. It competes with the TVS NTorq 125 (Rs 58,252), Honda Grazia (Rs 60,723), Suzuki Access 125 (Rs 61,235) and the recently-launched Hero Maestro Edge 125 (Rs 58,500).

Storm Specifications

Powering the SR 125 is a 124.9cc air-cooled, single-cylinder motor that makes 9.6PS of power and 9.9Nm of torque. The scooter gets a CVT transmission.

Storm Design and Features

The Storm gets the Aprilia SR 125's bodywork but looks funkier thanks to new graphics, two new bright colours: matte yellow and matte red; and chunky 12-inch dual-purpose tyres.

Aprilia Storm Competitors

The Aprilia Storm 125 faces competition from the TVS NTorq 125 (Rs 58,252), Honda Grazia (Rs 60,723), Suzuki Access 125 (Rs 61,235) and the recently-launched Hero Maestro Edge 125 (Rs 58,500).

ZigSays

The Aprilia Storm is a good option if you are on the lookout for a funky looking 125cc scooter. However, it does not offer much in terms of seat comfort and storage space. Given that the Storm uses the SR's underpinnings and suspension setup, we expected the suspension to be on the stiffer side. However, the chunky high profile tyres should take an edge off the stiff ride.
