E-Class 2021-2024 Key Highlights
Features: The facelifted E-Class features Mercedes’ latest MBUX infotainment system, digital instrumentation, a Burmester sound system, three-zone climate control, Mercedes-Me connected car tech with over-the-air updates, powered front and rear seats, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless phone charger, cruise control, and LED lamps. Safety is covered by seven airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring, active brake assist, 360-degree camera, and parking assist with camera and sensors.
Engine: Mercedes offers the standard E-Class with three engine options: a 197PS/320Nm 2.0-litre petrol (E200), a 194PS/400Nm 2.0-litre diesel (E220d), and a 286PS/600Nm 3.0-litre diesel engine (E350d). All engines come with a 9-speed automatic gearbox and a rear-wheel drivetrain. In terms of the 0-100 sprint, the E200 and E200d hit the mark in 7.6 seconds, while the E350d completes it in 6.1 seconds. The AMG-spec variants are powered by a 435PS/520Nm 3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line petrol (E 53 4MATIC+) and a 612PS/850Nm 4.0-litre V8 petrol (E 63 S 4MATIC+). The E53 gets mild-hybrid tech too. Both are coupled with a 9-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drivetrain. The E53 does the 0-100kmph run in 4.5 seconds (with a top speed of 250kmph), while the E63 S does the job within 3.4 seconds (with a top speed of 300kmph).
Rivals: The E-Class takes on the likes of the BMW 5-Series, Volvo S90, Audi A6, and the Jaguar XF, while the AMG variants lock horns the Audi RS7 Sportback and BMW M5.
Variants: The Mercedes E-Class comes in three trims: Expression, Exclusive, and AMG Line (Exclusive to the E350D). The first two can be specced with 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines, while the AMG Line packs a six-cylinder diesel (E350d). You also have two performance-oriented variants: the E53 and E63S. The luxury sedan is available in six colours: Designo Hyacinth Red, Polar White, Obsidian Black, High tech Silver, Mojave Silver, and Selenite Grey.
