Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R FAQs
Ninja ZX-4R Key Highlights
Price: Kawasaki has priced the Ninja ZX-4R at Rs 8,79,000 and the ZX-4RR at Rs 9,42,000 (both prices ex-showroom).
Design: While the ZX-4R looks sharp and aggressive like an authentic supersport, it looks especially similar to the other Ninjas. Remove the sticker and you could easily mistake it for the Ninja 400. While Kawasaki sells the Ninja ZX-4R only in black colour in India, the Ninja ZX-4RR comes in a more premium-looking triple tone Lime Green / Ebony / Pearl Blizzard White paint scheme.
Features: The Ninja ZX-4R and the ZX-4RR get a 4.3-inch TFT instrument console with two display modes: Normal and Circuit. The layout of the display is similar to the bigger Ninjas. It gets smartphone connectivity via Rideology app. The 400cc bike has four riding modes - Sport, Road, Rain or Rider (personalised). It also gets an all-LED lighting setup.
Engine: The ZX-4R's 399cc inline-four cylinder engine produces 75PS at 14,500rpm (77PS with RAM air intake) and 37.6Nm at 13,000rpm, while on the ZX-4RR, the motor produces 77PS (80PS) and 39nm. It is paired to a six-speed transmission with a slip-and-assist clutch. The Ninja ZX4-RR comes with a bi-directional quickshifter as standard.
Suspension, Brakes & Other Details: The Ninja ZX-4R has a 37mm Separate Function USD fork (120mm travel) with a monoshock (112mm wheel travel) at the rear. The Ninja ZX-4RR on the other hand gets a preload-adjustable 37mm inverted Showa SFF-BP fork and a Showa BFRC Lite monoshock. Braking is handled by twin 290mm disc brakes at the front and a 220mm single rear disc. The 17-inch wheels are shod with 120-section front and 160-section rear W-rated tyres. Other details include an 800mm seat height, 189kg kerb weight, 15-litre fuel tank, and 135mm of ground clearance.
Rivals: The ZX-4R and the ZX-4RR don’t really have any direct rivals. The closest rivals of the Ninja ZX-4R include multi-cylinder sub-500cc supersports like the Ninja 500 and Aprilia RS 457. Alternatives in the similar price include the Triumph Daytona 660 and the Suzuki GSX-8R.
