Cylinder bikes

What is it? a nod to the stripped-down cafe racers that zipped around london in the 1960s, The 2021 royal enfield continental gt 650 is a new bike with throwback style and a warmly rumbling heart — an air-cooled, 648cc parallel twin engine. Is it new?yup, But it’s been in the works for a minute.Royal enfield announced its first twin-cylinder bikes since 1970 — the int 650 and the continental gt 650 — in the fall of 2018.The third editions of both bikes hit dealers this past fall, And we finally got some seat time in november 2020.What makes it special?if i may be shallow for a moment, One thing that really stands out about this bike: its looks. The compact curves, Bubbly gas tank and shiny chrome are simultaneously gorgeous and delightfully retro. They combine to recall a simpler time, When we didn’t need fancy electronics, Touchscreens and gps to saddle up and hit the open road. You know a bike has nailed that vibe when multiple people ask how old your bike is — and are gobsmacked when you tell them it’s new.

In an ever-increasingly expensive

In an ever-increasingly expensive world, John marcar is searching for cheaper options for our weekend toys.Following a six-month loan of the latest iteration of royal enfield's continental gt twin 650 - he might have just found the perfect option for riders. The world is an expensive place at the moment.Everything from petrol to pet food seems to be approximately 20-50% more expensive than it should be or was just a year or so ago. It's sad for many reasons, But it's especially depressing for fans of motorised toys for grown-ups, Like weekend cars and motorbikes.Fast-forward to my reunion with said cafe racer, And all was instantly well with the world again. That cafe racer stance looks a lot more committed than it actually is, And frankly, I’d happily tour the country on it.For now, Though, I was only warming up to its responses and dimensions, Until the familiarity would fully creep in again. It’s undeniable that the bs6-ification of the 648cc parallel-twin has made it a wee bit softer. It’s still a 47hp engine – and that’s ample in any situation – but the relative perkiness of the bs4 motor seems to have been lost in the process of compliance. My counter was to ride it that little bit harder (who’s complaining?) and, Thankfully, I found the tyres enabling such antics noticeably better than the last time i tried such a thing. In all fairness, The pirelli sportscomps were nice tyres, But the ceat zoom cruzfs are that crucial bit better. It helps tremendously, Especially on a motorcycle that can wag its tail on demand; it still can, Thankfully, But it is largely composed and communicative, Under all sorts of situations. In the couple of weeks it lived with me, I rode it hours before i had to be anywhere, Every single day.The incentive of bagging heartachingly pretty photographs certainly fuelled the urge to ride it even more, And that such adventures would invariably end with some irani grub made it the happiest routine i’ve had in a while.Cafe racer, Chai chaser.Same thing, Right?having been around for over three years now, Though, The conti gt is working up the wrinkles. For one, That too-soft suspension definitely robs the bike of its natural agility. Also, While i’m a big fan of chrome clutch/crankcase covers over matte black ones, The ones on the 650s seem to suffer from rather intense pitting and lose their sheen alarmingly quickly. Our test bike came with 800km on the odo, Mind you.Lastly, I certainly wouldn’t mourn the inclusion of slightly sharper brakes.Still the stuff of dreams, Then? yes, If a happy, Timeless cafe racer is all you want.Perhaps no, If you want your cafe racer to do very proper sportbike things.

Modern components

Royal enfield is one of the oldest motorcycle brands in the world, Dating back to 1901 when it was founded in england. The history of the continental gt goes all the way back to 1964; that bike was one of last bikes to be built in royal enfield’s redditch factory, Before it and the bradford on avon factory shuttered the doors for good in 1967 and 1970, Respectively. With licensed motorcycles like the 350cc single-cylinder bullet model already being built in india since 1955, The brand survived and then later thrived after madras motors merged with the eicher group in 1994.When the current generation of the conti gt 650 was released back in 2019, It was a completely new platform with a brand-new and totally modern engine.Introduced alongside the interceptor 650, The gt was designed to fill a void in the us market. One where the terms “inexpensive, ” “simple, ” and “fun” coexist with “cool” and “user-friendly.” “we’re not looking to take market share from anyone, ” re ceo siddhartha lal said, “we are here to grow the market by creating our own category.”the engine and steel double-downtube cradle frame may look old-tech, But the performance of both is anything but.In the case of the engine, There are plenty of modern components throughout. An interesting fact is that re purchased famed british chassis builder harris performance back in 2015, Which means the conti gt delivers in spades when it comes to handling dynamics.Wheels measure 18-inch front and rear while bybre (an abbreviation of “by brembo, ” brembo’s indian subsidiary) brakes handle stopping duty. This bike is all about style, And with a variety of colors and accessories available, Something is sure to grab your fancy.

Months back

3.8

I bought the gt two months back. And has ridden 4500 kms in it as of today. And this is my detailed, Honest and unbiased review: pros: •the bike is fast. The 650cc parallel twin engine creates 47hp and 52nm of torque.Overtaking is easy and effortless no matter which gear you’re on.•it’s a real attention grabber.Continental gt with all its grace is surely a sight to see for bystanders. The chunky 650cc engine and the double barrel looking exhaust is just aesthetically pleasing.-that is it for the pros.Cons:•the bike is really heavy.Even though you barely feel it when you ride it, It’s very difficult to move it back out of somewhere you’ve parked.• the stock tyres aren’t bad but they’re not great. You lose some confidence when you’re attempting to take that sharp corner.• the mileage is pretty below average. But it’s expected. In city, I got around 18-20km/litre.And in highways i got 22-24km/litre.That’s my pros and cons. Conclusion:the royal enfield continental gt650 has been my dream bike since it’s release in 2019.And i have to say that i’m very very happy with it.The cons of this bike doesn’t bother me at all.But i added them for the review to be honest.Hope i could help anyone who was trying to buy this bike a detailed review.(just go for it, Man.You’ll have the time of your life with it!).

This is the best bike

This is the best bike you can get undee the 3 to 4 lakh price range its mileage is arguably one of the best mileages if you compare it to other 650cc bikes but its top speed is less compared to others on road price would probably be around 3.7 to 4 lakhs if your looking for speed and torque this is the bike for you one of its cons is its seating posture which is not actually a con its just a aggressive posture for an aggressive bike but if your looking for a less intense crusing kinda posture you shud go for interceptor 650.
