Launched at Rs 16.75 lakh (ex-showroom), it now commands Rs 1.66 lakh over the outgoing model, but packs a host of updates.

Good news for all those who had been waiting for the updated Force Gurkha 3-door:  it has finally started reaching dealerships across the country. Bookings have already commenced and deliveries are to begin soon. 

The updated 2024 Gurkha retains its upright and purpose-built design which boasts of ruggedness. It now gets redesigned 18-inch alloy wheels which gives it a premium appeal. The overhead air intake snorkel improves its water wading capabilities while adding a touch of character to its looks. The 2024 Force Gurkha has also been launched in a 5-door model with an added third row, for practicality.

Inside, the interior layout resembles the outgoing variant with a hard-plastic dashboard, but this time makes way for few tech additions in the cabin like an updated 9-inch infotainment screen with wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a 7-inch digital driver’s display.

In terms of safety, you get dual front airbags, ABS, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and rear parking sensors.

It gets a Mercedes-sourced 2.6-litre turbo-diesel engine as found in the outgoing model, but  now has been tuned up to produce 140 PS and 320 Nm (49 PS and 70 Nm more than before). It can be had only with a 5-speed manual transmission. Furthermore, a shift-on-the-fly rotary dial replaces the manual stick for switching between two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive. 


The Force Gurkha (both 3-door and 5-door) give competition to the Mahindra Thar (both the 3-door and the upcoming 5-door versions) and the Maruti Suzuki Jimny. The Gurkha 3-door model is priced at Rs 16.75 lakh (ex-showroom), and the 5-door model is priced at Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom).
