As expected, the Vision IN borrows plenty of styling cues from the Kamiq

  • Skoda Vision IN to debut on February 3.
  • Previews small SUV that will take on the Seltos and 2020 Creta.
  • Production-spec version likely to feature 1.0- and 1.5-litre TSi petrol engines.

Skoda India has revealed the Vision IN’s exterior design with a couple of renderings. There are hints of the Euro-spec Kamiq, and it does look like a scaled-down Kodiaq from a few angles too!

The trademark butterfly grille is flanked by sleek headlamps, and small foglamps find place right underneath. This is unlike the Euro-spec Kamiq that has slender daytime running lamps up top, and a headlamp cluster on the bumper. The Vision IN also features big air dams that add a tinge of sportiness.

A sharp shoulder line cuts through the profile of the SUV, much like the Kodiaq. From the rear, the resemblance to the Kamiq is noticeable, especially with the sleek L-shaped tail lamps. And, just like recent cars from the Czech firm, the SKODA lettering is spelt out instead of the arrowhead Skoda badge.

Skoda had revealed the interior design of the Vision IN earlier, showing off the many design cues it borrows from international Volkswagen group models. Highlights include a floating infotainment system, digital instrument display, a flat-bottom 3-spoke steering wheel as well as plenty of orange accents. The production-spec version is expected to be powered by the new BS6-compliant 1.0-litre TSi engine that’s set to be introduced in the new Rapid. It’s expected to develop 115PS of power and 200Nm of torque and be offered with a manual and a DSG automatic. A more powerful 150PS 1.5-litre TSI engine could also be on the cards for the upcoming SUV.

Skoda will preview the Vision IN just before the Auto Expo 2020, on February 3. We expect to see the production-spec model to hit roads in the first half of 2021. Prices are likely to be in the Rs 10 lakh - 15 lakh range, rivalling the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the MG Hector.
