After releasing the official rendering image and teaser video of the new Hyundai Elite i20, company executives have confirmed that the current generation Hyundai i20 will be discontinued. The new Hyundai Elite i20 will make its world debut in India on August 11th, which says a lot about the company’s commitment to the country. The Korean car manufacturer has released official rendered images of the car earlier today, but we have access to these spy images of the Hyundai Elite i20 without camouflage giving a cleaner view of the new car’s design.
The Hyundai Elite i20 has been designed at Hyundai Motor’s Design Centre Europe in Rüsselsheim, Germany and takes the company’s Fluidic Sculpture design philosophy to the next level. The Hyundai Elite i20 sports a wide and aggressive styling with a pair of large headlights, trapezoidal grille, strong shoulder lines and black C-pillars. The rear end gets sleek taillamps with LED highlights which spread over the boot lid.
As the new Hyundai Elite i20 will have a longer wheelbase, we can expect the cabin room to be more generous than the current i20. Hyundai will pay extra attention to make the car more comfortable for rear passengers and will also include additional features to out shine the competition.
Though Hyundai has not revealed much information about the new Hyundai Elite i20, we expect it to be similar to the regular Hyundai i20. Engine options of the current Hyundai i20 will be carried forward on the new Hyundai Elite i20, which includes the 84PS, 1.2-litre kappa petrol mated to a 5-speed gearbox and a 100PS, 1.4-litre petrol motor with 4-speed automatic petrol. Diesel version will come with a 90PS, 1.4-litre oil-burner with a 5-speed manual transmission.
The new Hyundai Elite i20 is expected to go on sale by end of August 2014 and is expected to be priced between Rs 4.9 lakh to Rs 7.9 lakh. Although there is nothing wrong about the Hyundai i20 hatchback, but Hyundai is preparing itself with the new Hyundai Elite i20 to take on fresh competition like the recently launched 2014 Volkswagen Polo (Also read: 2014 Polo 1.5 TDI review) and other upcoming models like the new Honda Jazz and Maruti Suzuki Swift facelift. So, if you are looking to buy a reliable, spacious and comfortable hatchback, then you might get some special discount on the current generation Hyundai i20. But remember limited stocks only!
