Its finally out. The long awaited replacement for the Bugatti Veyron, the all-new Bugatti Chiron has finally been revealed and as expected, it is defined by crazy numbers, ridiculous power figures and of course, an insane top speed! So here they are: the Chiron has an 8.0-litre engine W16 engine which gets four turbochargers. In its first form, the Chiron will make 1500PS of peak power and 1600Nm of peak torque. Drive goes to all four wheels through a seven speed dual clutch gearbox.
And with all that power, one would expect the Chiron to put down some crazy acceleration figures and it does. 0-100kmph takes a mere 2.5-seconds, 0-200kmph takes 6.5-seconds and the 0-300 dash takes only 13.6-seconds! OF course, the Chiron will keep accelerating post 300 on to a limited top speed of 420kmph which makes it marginally faster than the Veyron. The new Chiron is also longer, taller and wider than the Veyron and is about 155kg heavier too but all the extra dimensions has resulted in a slightly larger cabin than before.
The Chiron’s looks though are subjective and although some people might not really like the way it is designed, you cannot ignore the fact that it is quite a stunning looking car. The Chiron is more of an evolution of the Veyron instead of a revolutionary new design and has the typical Bugatti hallmarks like the grille up front and the curve on the sides. The new Chiron also gets a more edgy look than the Veyron which makes it look a lot more purposeful and current.
Bugatti has already received 150 confirmed orders for the Chiron across the world and as announced, the new supercar will be restricted to a production figure of 500 only. The new Chiron will also be made in a more powerful SuperSport avatar a little later in its life cycle and a Targa convertible GranSport too will be announced not too far into the future. Each car is priced at a base price of about $2.61 million or about Rs 18.2 crores (before taxes).
