The Indian GT car driver hopes to perform better in the next round, which is slated to take place in Taiwan

Fourth Round of Audi R8 LMS Cup

Aditya Patel, the Indian driver competing in the Audi R8 LMS Cup, has scored double points in two races that took place in Korea last weekend (September 24 and 25) in the fourth round of the championship. Patel was able to clock very competitive times in the practice race, but an error while driving in the qualifying race pushed him back on the starting grid.

The first race started with Aditya at the ninth position. However, he dropped to tenth at the very beginning, following a bad start. Despite the initial setback, Patel was quick to react and climbed a few spots before finishing in the sixth position, all while gaining a few points for the team and himself. Marchee Lee from Hong Kong won the race.

In the second race, Patel improved on both his finishing position and his driving tactics, with the JK Tyre- and Audi India-backed driver seeming quite aggressive throughout the race. He was able to race to the third position in the early stages of the race, while passing the championship contender Martin Rump. However, Patel soon dropped back to the fifth position – at which he later finished the race – after Rump and his (Patel’s) teammate Alessio Picariello passed him and finished third and fourth, respectively. Speaking of the race winner, Alex Yoong was the first person to hit the chequered flag.

Commenting on his performance, Patel said, “Considering the way the first half of the year went, I can’t be too disappointed. Of course I would’ve liked to fight for the podium but unfortunately, the pace wasn’t good enough. The consistency over the course of the race was encouraging and we now have our work cut out for Taiwan.”

The next round of the Audi R8 LMS Cup will be held at the Penbay International Circuit in Taiwan on October 16.
