With hundreds of paint shades and functional and aesthetic options, the programme can help you create a truly one-of-a-kind Porsche sportscar or SUV

“In the beginning I looked around and could not find quite the car I dreamed of. So I decided to build it myself.” –  Ferdinand Porsche

In some ways, Porsche’s very foundations are rooted in building a car bespoke to its driver. Back in the day, the carmaker focused on modifying to carry more luggage or tackling a racetrack or off-road terrain.

In 2022, every Porsche is a halo car and the focus has shifted to luxury and uniqueness. In the words of Manolito Vujicic, Brand Director, Porsche India, “For many Porsche customers taking delivery of their new car means the fulfillment of a life-long dream. As a result, they want to own a car that is unique and portrays their personality.”

The carmaker offers numerous options to its well-heeled customers under the Porsche Tequipment, Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur and Porsche Classic divisions. It invited us to an introduction of its Exclusive Manufaktur program with over 700 options for personalisation.

What is Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur?

“As an aspirational brand, Porsche offers an almost endless range of individualization products to ensure each car comes off the production line exactly how it should be. Any Porsche can be as unique as a fingerprint.” – Manolito Vujicic, Brand Director, Porsche India.

The Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur programme offers aesthetic personalisation options that range far beyond what you can get on most cars.

On the outside, you can choose from a wide variety of choices for wheels, paint options and more. For example, the smoked headlights and taillights in the Porsche Panamera Turbo S pictured are an Exclusive Manufaktur option.

Talking about the interior customisation options is like opening a Pandora’s box. Porsche offers a myriad of upholstery options and combinations, stitching thread colours, interior trim materials, mats and carpets and, of course, the centre timepiece.

You can even choose the colour of the car’s key and its casing material. In fact, the key alone can be personalised in 2 lakh permutations and combinations!

Porsche Panamera Turbo S Bespoke Components

One of the cars displayed at the event was a Panamera Turbo S performance sedan that was kitted out with options such as 21-inch Panamera Exclusive Design rims and carbon trim elements on the bumpers and side skirts, part of the Carbon Design Package.

The aforementioned smoked headlights are called Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus and Exclusive Design Taillights.

It also had Abachi Anthracite dark wood finish around the cabin, sports seats, a Porsche Design Subsecond clock, Sports Chrono Package and an Exclusive Design gear selector.

The ‘GT Silver metallic’ Panamera Turbo S has a 4-litre V8 under the bonnet that makes 630PS and scoots from 0-100kmph in a supercar-quick 3.1 seconds. Those massive yellow brake callipers indicate that it has the carbon ceramic brake kit that comes standard on the Turbo S.

Porsche Cayenne GTS Bespoke Components

Porsche also had a Carmine Red Cayenne GTS on display, with smoked headlights and carbon fibre exterior trim similar to the performance sedan and 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels.

Inside, it had the GTS Interior Package with Alcantara seat and door upholstery and red stitching. It was also equipped with an Exclusive Design gear shifter, and Porsche Rear Seat Entertainment package with a Bose Surround Sound System.

The Porsche Cayenne GTS is powered by a 460PS V8 engine good for 0-100kmph in 4.8 seconds. It’s not as fast as the Panamera, but it’s equally loud, with its engine spewing a substantial amount of water on this author’s legs during a cold start.

How to get Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur components?

Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur is available at the time of purchase and any time during the life of pretty much any Porsche vehicle under the sun. Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur mods are performed in-house at the Kochi Centre, and if you buy new, around 95 percent of the modifications are done at the factory itself. As for timelines, it may take anywhere from three to six weeks for Porsche to kit out your car, depending on the availability of parts in India or overseas.
