Is it truly a mini-Defender?

JSW Motors-Jetour T2

Besides the JSW-MG Motor India joint venture, the JSW Group is now gearing up to launch its own automotive outfit. With a launch planned later this year, JSW Motors has released a teaser of its first SUV, which will be based on the Jetour T2 sold internationally. But what is this SUV like, and can it take up the fight to Indian shores? Here are all the details:

2026 JSW-Jetour T2: Exterior

Being an off-road oriented design, the T2 features a boxy and rugged styling to add some personality. At the front, we get to see a tough-looking bumper, along with a gloss black grille with ‘JETOUR’ lettering (likely to be replaced by JSW in the Indian version) and square LED headlamp cluster with a unique DRL signature.

The side profile of the T2 will remind you a lot of the iconic Defender with its flared wheel arches, extensive use of flat lines and surfaces and the tall bonnet.

The rear-end too features a flat tailgate with the spare wheel mounted on it and vertically-mounted LED taillamps. Just like the front-end, it too features a chunky black bumper.

Notably, the JSW version of this SUV is likely to get minor cosmetic enhancements for better appeal in the Indian market.

2026 JSW-Jetour T2: Interior

Inside, the T2 continues with the squared-off and butch look with an upright dashboard and chunky surfaces. It gets a massive touchscreen infotainment system as its main highlight, which is used to control most of the vehicle functions. You also get to see chunky door handles with exposed screws, brushed aluminum finish for the centre console and a ‘squircle’ steering wheel.

Globally, three interior colour themes are offered including an all-black theme with red stitching, a green-black scheme or a dual-tone black-brown theme, but which of these colourways would be offered on the JSW version remains to be seen.

Being an off-road focused model, the T2 also gets a four-wheel drive layout as standard. Notably, there is also a plug-in hybrid version of the SUV sold under the T2 i-DM name abroad which is unlikely to make it to India.

2026 JSW-Jetour T2: Launch Date, Expected Price And Rivals

JSW Motors has not stated an official launch date for its SUV yet, although it is expected to reach our shores around Diwali this year. It is likely to be priced at Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom) and will compete with SUVs like the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Jeep Meridian and Tata Safari.

ZigSays…

JSW wants to step into the automotive industry with a very interesting proposition. On paper, the T2 has pretty much all that you would expect and then some more along with a rugged looking design that is likely to be its trump card. But with the Chinese origins and the unknown track record, it remains to be seen if Indian buyers see it as a value-for-money product worth splurging for.
