Smartphone giant, Xiaomi, has showcased their first-ever electric car, the SU7 electric sedan in India. The SU7 is Xiaomi's answer to popular electric sedans such as the Tesla Model 3 and BYD Seal. That said, don't get your hopes high about a possible introduction as Xiaomi clearly said in its press release that this is a showcase and the model will not be launched in India in the near future.
Xiaomi SU7 Exterior Design
It’s very evident that the Xiaomi SU7 takes design inspiration from multiple electric cars sold globally. Especially from the silhouette, which has hints of the Porsche Taycan and Hyundai Ioniq 6.

The front-end design is minimalistic, featuring tear drop shaped LED headlights and a rather minimalistic bumper with an airdam and vents. Its profile, with its coupe-like silhouette looks sporty and adding to the design are alloys that seem straight out of an Italian supercar. It’s at the rear, where things look more conventional with the connected LED tail lamps and a rather aggressive bumper design with a faux diffuser.
Internationally, the SU7 is offered with six colour options: Meteor Blue, Radiant Purple, Basalt Grey, Lava Orange, Pearl White and Diamond Black.
Xiaomi SU7 Interior Design
Step inside the SU7’s cabin and you can clearly see where it takes inspiration from (psst… whisper Tesla). The dashboard is dominated by a massive 16.1-inch 3K resolution touchscreen infotainment, which, thankfully, gets physical controls below it for important functions. The steering wheel (inspired from Porsche) has select rotary dials that can be used to access Boost mode or the autopilot system.

And lastly, if the large touchscreen wasn’t enough, Xiaomi has plonked in a massive 56-inch head-up display so you don’t have to take your eyes off the road.
The cabin can also be specced in four different hues: Obsidian Black, Mist Purple, Galaxy Grey and Twilight Red.
Xiaomi SU7 Features Onboard
Top features onboard the SU7 include the aforementioned screens, two more screens for rear-seat passengers, multi-zone climate control, a 25-speaker sound system, a panoramic glass roof, powered front seats, a 50 watt wireless phone charger, a 7.1-inch digital driver’s display and a powered tailgate.

Safety is taken care of by seven airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors and most importantly, a plethora of ADAS features using LiDAR technology.
Xiaomi SU7 Powertrain Options
Internationally, the Xiaomi SU7 gets three powertrain options: Standard, Pro and Max. Specifications of both of them are impressive, but the Max with its dual-motor setup has numbers that could put performance cars to shame. The model showcased here was the top-spec Max variant. Without further ado, here’s a detailed look at the specifications of the SU7:

Xiaomi SU7 Price And Rivals
The Xiaomi SU7, if green lit for an India launch, could be priced from around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). In India, this puts it in contention with the BYD Seal and the Hyundai Ioniq 5. Internationally, it also goes up against the Tesla Model 3.
