Desire is more stable on high speed. Top speed as per my drive is 182 for swift and 190 for swift desire. Engine is same. Mileage is almost same. Desire is lengthy as it is considered in sedan class however swift is easy to drive in traffic.

These cars basically have no difference except their segment. But if you go deeper the only difference you get is that DZire has more leg room and boot space and the benefit with Swift is that it takes lesser turning radius and a few more kilometres added to it's top speed because of it's lesser body weight, rest other specifications of these two cars are totally identical (if compared in same models).

If you are sport lover and fond of travel, want to enjoy driving then go for swift, dzire has large bot space and has more space inside so you can decide as per your requirement

Dzire has a better resale value and also practicality when compared to Swift. this makes the Dzire better in competition although swift is aesthetically the better one.

Both come with the same engine so it depends on you whether you want a sedan or a hatchback more or less the performance will be the same

City less luggage for a couple or 3 go for swift.a good city daily commuter.l need it for long journeys with luggage (1.5 diesel).

Both are more or less the same car in terms of the driver experience. The primary difference is the boot space. Also if the category matters, sedan or hatch back. So choose your priorities and then decide.

Depends on which one you like, a hatch or a compact sendan as both are the technically the same and the dzire a bit longer and heavier but with a little more boot space. Personally I like the hatch.

Dezire is a swift car, with boot space added to convert a hatch back to a sedan at a hefty price.

Dzire is a swift with a boot space. Swift is good enough for a family of 4 to 5. Only if you need more luggage space, get a Dzire.
