It depends on your running of car. If you are running more than 50,000km in a year go for Diesel. On diesel you get (I am getting an average of above 22km per liter of diesel in City Driving and with AC On on my Tata Nexon XZ+ with Diesel). And on Highway I am getting 28 to 30km in a liter (Keeping speed below 90 km/hr and using other precautions - please see my earlier answers).With Petrol you will not get more than 15 to 16 km in a liter. So at the same price of Diesel and Petrol you will save average Rs. 85,000 in a year at 50,000.00 per year. Which is the approximate difference between Diesel and Petrol. So what you pay extra on Diesel model you save in less than a year and in subsequent years you may save more - depending upon the market rate of Diesel or Petrol then prevailing.Do not look at resale value of car when the running kilometers are more. Both are awesome engines, it depends on your uses if you drive more than 5000 kms in a month than go for diesel variant otherwise petrol variant is best. Talking about Resale value, Resale value of Tata is very good now but I would suggest you never by any vehicle by considering the Resale value. A car or a bike is purchased by considering its performance build quality mileage comfort and features. Cars and bikes are like family members if you treat them well they will last long. I am having Tata Indica 2005 model Tata nexon 2019 model, old bullet 96 model but none of my old or new vehicle is giving problem they are performing brilliantly. Please make your decision wisely
